Hawkes of the Sea: a pirate fantasy

The Black Raven

I was offered protection to save my Life so I could do no other than to do the same for you Bella!

Creeps

I then turn my attention to the captain, "so, does this mean your not going to cut my head off, or slit my throat?". I wait for a answer.

bella

Your mind is straying Bella. Be careful of you you wish thngs for! High King? Come come now girl..........creep is much better.

Jezebella

I spread a wing and slight smoke flies out and touches the Captains sword. No blade will touch this one this day either.

bella

I fly to Jeremiah invisible. I stand over him. A singld white feather appears from high and flost to his wound. As it lies the wound heals.

I return to my branch unnoticed.

Jeremiah Hawke

I rub my eyes with the heels of my hands. Too muchis going on to follow at the moment. Yet, I cannot forget my mission. My sister and the lady Amanda are still within the cave. And that roar of earlier bodes not well.

"Ladies, gentlemen, and, er, others...evidently there is much for us to discuss. Now, however, there is a few matters that must be put straight ere we can take our liesure for conversation."

I turn to the man before me. "Sirrah, no. At this moment much as I might like to take your head for what you did to my foster father, he has told me you should not meet such a fate as yet...evidently destiny has some other plans for you. I would ask that you wait here, though, whilst I attempt to reach resolutions on other matters. as for thee two sprites or whate'er ye be, we will talk more later."

I sketch a bow to the one which has healed my wound. "My thanks to thee, sprite."

Gesturing to the guards who carry the components of the Greek Fire, and others with them, and follow Black Bart into the jungle.

Creeps

I stop Jeremiah for a second, "sorry, but I can't do that. If Raven follows you than i must follow you. After all, this is what I'm getting paid for, and give this to your old man". I toss him a healing potion, "that should help", I say. While everyone was watching the potion being tossed to the captain, I make my escape. They look around, but they couldn't find me. From the treetops I yell, "don't worry, I'll be watching". I dissapear again, and prepare to follow, once again.

The Black Raven

There is a House not to far from this very spot and before you ask it is my very own your Foster Father knew of my living there!

All that I could tell him at the time was that their would be a very Great need for this House in the very near future.

Hawke I The Black Raven will have to go before you if you wish to kill The Giant Beast!

I go back to my perch aside Raven. These mortals drain me I say to her. We give them everything they need to win these matches they deem neccesary and what do they do? Use their insatiable appetite for power instead of their minds. Maybe now the one they call Jeremiah will realize the power I have given him but something tells me we will still need to watch over them all.

And now look at this Clarissa kissing this wounded man in the midst of it all. The wench. If she only knew the perial she was putting him in.

I was with a wizard when he was killed. He sensed his death was immenant and sent me away. I have been hidden for these many years. I have finally found my way to those that saw him last.

Black Bart and I have a score to settle.

I am a product of Poseidan and Diana, Gods from above. I have powers unseen before. I look different to every mortal. Their deepest lustful desires is how I am perceived.

The Black Raven

I laugh and say Bella it is you who should be carefull!Because Black Bart is My Twin Brother if you try to harm Black Bart!

You shall then have The Black Raven after your hide faster than Zeus The King of The Gods Himself!

bella

Have no fear Raven, I am not here to hurt Black Bart. In fact quite the opposite............

The Black Raven

Please excuse my bad manners Bella but I only Discovered Five Years Ago that the man that helped me to escape 20 years ago was in fact my own Brother!

I treated him very shabbily for helping me if it comes to his life our my own I would put his life first!

Creeps

I view the conversation between the Raven, and the bird lady. I wondered what was going on. I silently crept closer to see what was going on. They seemed to be talking about Black Bart, but there was something more to the converstion, I could tell.

The Black Raven

I hear a twig snap so someone is tring to ease drop are they!

I look down and see Creeps tring to sneek up and hear Bella's & The Black Raven's conversation!

I tell Bella so long that I have a pesky fly that I must swat with the flat of my Sword!

I'm a Master at sneekng up on people from behind!

Why do you try to snoop in my Conversation with someone else?

So Creeps doust thou wish to only hear Thunder & Lightening for the rest of thy pitiful life!

Creeps

I watch as The Raven frys a tall, dark, and skinny gorilla with lightning. I would really hate to be in that gorilla's fur right now. It was probably so dark in these branches that she thought that gorilla was an assassin of some sort. I then decided to see what the rest of the group was up to.

Jeremiah Hawke

The guards and I follow the trail Black Bart left in the jungle. We come upon him near the beach where there appears to be some turbulence in the water. Something akin to a dark green rock rises, then disappears.

I walk up to where Black Bart squats and squat beside him, watching.

"Well, Bart, think ye that be the serpent we seek?"

Turning at the Captain's approach, I reply "Aye, it be the water demon, Lost without it's master...., But beware, it is even more so deadly, for it may strike without reason, or warning now."

In my hands, I hold my fathers sword, ready for quick use. Glancing at the amulet about Jeremiah's neck, I remark of it.

"Captain, the stone you wear gives off the same light as my fathers sword....Strange that both should react, to the serpents presence in the same way."

Returning my gaze to the water, I watch but a short time, before the "rock" begins to rise, soon towering over us by 6 or 7 score.....

"Jeremiah, Our search for the devil is over, and we now have the pleasure of dealing with its cursed soul!" I say with a grin, glad that we are one step closer to the end......

Jeremiah Hawke

I nod at Black Bart's comments on the beast, considering our options. "I wonder as well, if it originally was trained only to feed at the magician's commands, might it not be a wee bit hungry?"

His comments on the amulet and his father's wsword draw my attention to them both. Indeed, the glow is the same. "Mayhap, old friend, whatever geas lies upon both is something that detects certain magics? Still, methinks yonder beast may merely be controlled by magic, and itself be mortal. We shall find out shortly, shan't we?" I grin.

Glancing around, I notice the cliffs that rise scant yards from us. An idea forms. "Bart, what think you? If we can get the beast distracted and moved beneath yon rise, I would venture it would provide us an advantage in destroying it."

I point to the cliff. "If we get the beastie to move over there into the shallows, mayhap we could unload the Greek Fire upon it. Igniting it should cause the creature sufficient pain to hurl the poison down its gullet. If between the greek fire and the poison, yon beast not be destroyed, I know not what might do the deed."

Rising to my feet, I watch the beast likewise rise tall into the sky. Much larger than I thought, but it moves not with what I would call intelligence, rather instinctual slither.

"Bart, of us all, ye have the best eye to throw the poison. Take you the bearers of the components of greek fire. When ye've reached the pinnacle of the cliffs, fire off a pistol to let me know ye are in place. I will then attempt to draw the beasts attention and lure it beneath you. Drop the components on it so they break and splash together, then ignite it with a shot from a pistol. Once it is ablaze, await your opportunity to throw the poison into its gullet. I will do what I can to be sure it is there."

I put my hand on Black Bart's shoulder and squeeze firmly. "Good luck and good hunting, old friend."

The Captain's plan is of merit, but not without risk, I instinctively know as he explains it to me. The fact that he trusts me to try and dispose of this beast speaks of his trust in myself, for he places himself in greater danger playing the part of the "sharks bait".

At the touch of his hand, and his farewell I nod my head, my eyes meeting his for a second, seeing his sincerity and returning it.

Gathering the bearers of the "Greek Fire" we make the short journey to the top of the cliffs, and carefully unpack each component, placing it beside me.

Pulling a pistol from my waste, I prime its flash pan, then cock the flint hammer back. Raising the now charged weapon above my shoulder, I pull the trigger. The shot rings out loudly, its voice echoing eerily down the clearing and over the water.

"Be careful my Captain, May Poseidon watch over you" I say to the wind.....

Jeremiah Hawke

I hear Black Bart's pistol and grin. Aye, there be danger here, but danger itself is sweeter than wine, betimes. I stride away from the jungle and onto the beach. The beast has no inkling I am here, miniscule upon the beach. Rather its head vaguely looks towards the direction of the pistol shot.

It occurs to me the beast's hearing may be far better than its eyesight. At least, I hope so.

"Hail and well met," I shout from the strand at the creature. "My an' aren't ye an ugly beastie!"

The creature's great head turns my direction as if searching. Indded, it is a sight out of hell. Moss green with an ochre underside, its head covered by warty growths surrounding baleful eyes.

Its teeth, however, have a certain savage beauty, long and sharp as it opens that great cavern of a mouth and it's tongue tastes the air. It looks again at the cliff, no doubt regretfully as it cannot rise quite so high.

Then, it turns to me. Mayhap it thinks that I might not be a meal, but sufficient for tea time.

I am already trotting along the beach but it has the scent of me know and is cutting through the water on a similar course, drawing closer to the shore. Only its eyes and snout remain above the waves of its tremendous wake.

"Aye," I cry gleefully, "no doubt yer mother dropped yer egg and took off for greener seas! Why, the very crocs of the Nile would take one look at ye and puke up their dinners."

Of course, I know the beast be not so intelligent as to understand my remarks, but the sound of my voice draws it onward. I look towards the cliffs and note again how the beach thins out. Given the stretch of the animal,. it will easily be able to reach from shallows to the base of the rock. I'll not be having a lot of room to manuever.

I reach the base of the cliff and turn to face the creature. It has paused in the shallows, regarding me with those unblinking eyes. I put my hands on my hips and call to it.

"An' what, pray tell, are ye waiting for, ye spawn of Satan? An engraved invitation? Well, ye'll get no such from me!"

Drawing my sword, I wave it above my head, letting the sunlight glint upon it and scream with laughter into the winds.

"Come on, ye stupid snake! Eat me!"

And the laughter dies as I see the creature once more rise and plant its forelegs which I knew not it had, upon the sand. It pulls itself ashore and like some great and ungainly ship, begins hurtling itself after me, beneath the overhang of the cliff.

On the beach below, I watch Jeremiah as he makes haste to position the giant beast. On the updraft of wind, his voice comes to us eerily, hauntingly as he shouts at the now rapidly moving demon.

"Come on ye stupid snake....EAT ME"

The words drifting up to us, send the bearers into a frenzy, which I quell with a roar "By Poseidon's great trident, still thy throats, or I will cut them for you!!!"

Raising the first container over my head, I throw it downward, its glass container breaking on the Demons scaled head. With measured haste, I throw each remaining vessel, watching them also strike the beasts eyes and fanged snout as it rises towards us.

The bearers now remain quiet, the most dependable handing me the musket I had charged, and I bring it to my shoulder. Aiming the weapon, I gently squeeze its trigger, the deafening discharge quickly following its enormous kick to my shoulder. As the blast travels its short distance to the angry demon, striking its scales and richocheting off, a greenish glow becomes visible.

The glow quickly gains strength, spreading rapidly on the head of the beast, changing from green, to blue, then to a blinding white that forces us to sheild our faces, from its intensity. The enraged beast, not able to reach us, began to drive its enormous snout into the rocky face below us.

"Breathe, Damn you, Do you not need air, Ye damned beast of the deep seas" I curse the scaled entity, the poison in my hand, ready to be thrown.

As if hearing my words, the Sea demon opens his mouth, revealing its white fanged interior, the stench of death wafting to us on its breath.

Drawing my arm back, I throw the dark bag of poisons, holding my breath as it sailed thru the air and into the demons mouth...

Creeps

I decided to pitch in. Seeing the serpents tail sneaking up from behind the group. I shoot a arrow at it, nailing it to the ground. I silently dash away, like I was never there.

I am sorry for the outburst....it was spoken as a child, responding to another

Thank you Bart for pointing that out......again my sincere apologies.....
