You are right, the styelized delta, and most all shirt insignia was Starship specific. The delta being that of the flagship, Enterprise. Throughout Starfleet the shirt color indicated department, Gold for Command, Blue for Sciences, and Red for Engineering. Of course we all know about the life expectancy of most "Red Shirts"

Berk, with your expertise, NO, I'll submit that you are definetely more in tune with ST than I am. Which is NOT a bad thing. Most people had no idea that the insignia was ship specific, but as you so elequently pointed out there are vast differences. I knew a person in the military that had actually found out EACH Constitution Class Insgina. That is how I knew that there were different ones for each ship, and as you pointed out also, I had seen the differences in Cpt Tracy's uniform as well.
