Sierra Templeton was her name. Fourth born of Byron and Christina Templeton of Boston, Mass. in late part of the 19th century. It was an exciting time to be alive for some. New innovations were coming from her father's workshop everyday and her mother's last book had done so well that they were set for life. Sierra was not of noble birth but of a noble mind. Her father had earned everything he had by the sweat of his brow and had earned the respect of many the same way. Lord Viktor's son had been one of them. Michael and Sierra had grown up together but he had paid her little attention. Letha was always the center of attention, not her. For the most part, she was happy to admire him from afar now that they were of age.

Her feelings had grown deeper as she had aged. Michael had saved her from drowning when she was 12 and he, 16. They had been at his father's estate and she had fallen from the horse the trainer had set her on and right into the lake. It had been a nightmare but somehow he had pulled her loose from the darkness of that water. She had not forgotten him after Sierra's father had sent her away to school. When she had received word from her mother that he had become engaged, Sierra's heart had broken. The head mistress had written to her mother in despair and she was allowed to return home, her mother thinking it was simply homesickness.

When his fiancee had been revealed to be having an affair with his bet friend, Sierra didn't feel relief but grief for the sadness that haunted him from then on. She had dreamed of being the focus of his attention but knew he would never get over this let down. Many in Boston gossiped that Michael's condition was worsening. Her mother had tried to see him but he had refused all visitors. In a fit of fear for his life, Sierra had written him a letter. Christina Templeton had come upon on it accidentally but she knew it would do Michael good to hear it from someone who knew him. Part of the older woman wanted to see both Michael and her child together. Sierra was 22 now and had shown no interest in the suitors that had paid her any attention. Michael was the only one she ever saw..

The letter read:

To my dear Michael,

I am writing to you out of desperate need to see you better. The pain and loneliness in your eyes haunts me. I know what she did can never be forgotten but you must not dwell in it. I beg of you to come back to us. For years I have watched for years, wondering if I could ever be good enough for you. She may have never really loved you but I have...for years. Please don't let her betrayal ruin your life. You deserve to be loved....by someone else and by yourself. She will never know what she't lost.

Sierra

The letter was placed on his bed side table by a maid that Christini paid off. Whether or not her daughter's words would have any effect would be up to Michael.
