Heroes come in all shapes and sizes (OOC)

Deathsknight, I noticed them too ... but I did not write about them. :( Sorry! I was focused on the total chaos of th dim light and lots of creatures running around.

Are you going to recap your chat with the demon creature as none of the other characters over heard that?

All,
I'll be playing Megan Bloodfrost as an NPC. I've sent a few messages to the writer ... no reply.

So I think we lost our newest member. We need a magic user ... and she has an interesting background. So I thought I'd play her as an NPC.

Also might be losing Isola soon. Nas is hungry and ... might eat her! ... No just joking. Not sure how this will be working out ... but everyone wanted to go on the dungeon crawl into the temple ... So I might send her off to the King of Palamar by herself. We would meet up with her later.

If anyone reading this is not part of this thread/story and wants to join. Please PM me ... or post your suggested character here and we'll fit your character in or you can have the ready made character of Megan Bloodfrost!

thanks

Nas wouldn't eat Isola...well, maybe he would...but not right now! :D
Pity to hear about Frostblood....hopefully he's just preoccupied and not another drive-by poster.

If you'd like, Nas can accompany Isola to see the king...it would make for a rather grand entrance for her. You'd just have to put up with a cranky dragon for the whole trip.

Only problem is that Maut will travel with Nas. The broken wing to mend remember?

All,
I have some bad news ... Annisthyrienne will be leaving the story.

I loved her characters and she is such a good writer ... she and they will be missed.

I hope all of you still want to continue with the story ... I think the fun action parts are coming up!

But with two fewer characters, if either of you wish to add another character ... please let me know. We can fit them in.

Also if anyone reading this is not part of this thread/story and wants to join. Please PM me ... or post your suggested character here and we'll fit your character in.

Thanks!

Devon Hillsong

Born the son of a Baron, he fled his life as a nobleman and joined the Ranger forces, he spent years under the tutelage of Darran Bloodfang, one of the best Rangers there was. Of course being of royal blood, he was not used to the hardships and constant training of a Ranger, yet he was determined not to return to what he saw as the undermining and misusing of the serfs. It took him three years longer to complete his training and even then he still had to learn more from Darran.

Once Devon have acclimatized to the live of a Ranger, he seemed to fit right in and it took everybody by surprise at how quickly he grew from a Rookie to one of the finest Rangers there was, rivaling even the almost legendary Darran Bloodfang. Never before was there such a meteorological ascend through the ranks and never before had one person shun the mantel of greatness as much as Devon did.

His skill with the bow rivals that of Elven archers, his long sword skill that of the King's Champion, he can throw any object with deadly force, yet he has an almost irrational fear for deep pools of water, moving bodies doesn't bother him, but ponds terrify him. He is human in every aspect and has learned that the only way to gain respect is by earning it. Usually by outsmarting or outshowing the other person.

Regarding the IC, since there is no direct contact with Maut I have no reason to write a post, but I will cobble something together and throw it in there just for the heck of it

thanks! Your new character sounds great. Where shall we meet him? Near the dead forest ...in the town of fourwinds perhaps?

All,
The “Heroes come in all shapes and sizes” fantasy adventure thread has evolved into a really neat story. This is because of some excellent writers … I think they will hate me for it … but I must brag about them! They are awesome!!

The thread has been going on for about a year now. And we have lost a few of our members. So if you are interested in joining please post to this OOC or send me a PM.

Please remember I need committed writers! If you are not planning on sticking with the story don’t sign up.

Basic story line this … It takes place on a D&D like world with elves, goblins, humans, centaurs, dragons, etc. A horrible evil has been growing in strength and plans to destroy all life on this world. The heroes of the story do not fully understand this threat … but come together … and in time … understand and must face this evil. I was hoping for a very diverse group of heroes. A really odd mixture of characters, this should generate some interesting conflicts in culture that must be overcome.

Characters needed:
1) Please think very diverse (i.e. full sized dragon, naga, centaur, minotaur, lizardman, furries types, etc)
2) I need a human or two (or elf, dwarf, etc) as the baseline characters (someone the reader can relate too)
For your character please outline the following items …
- Basic personality (joyful, angry, anxious, curious, etc)
- Some background (family, profession, mystery, conflict, or significant past event)
- Defect to overcome (trusting people, panic attacks, crude, pranks, love issues, hates one of the other character’s race/species/gender, etc)

Thanks!

Blin Bloodknuckle

Growing up in the slums of various caravan shantytowns as a potwasher (toilet-cleaner) has taught Blin not to trust anyone. An unsuspecting blow can come from anywhere at any time. He uses this to his advantage, knowing instinctively how to avoid a person's gaze. He knows common as well as goblinoid, (along with some Orc profanity) and can write a few words of either. His childhood was spent as a ratcatcher in the human dump, the only place his kind would be welcome in a human city. He was at worst ignored and at most cursed at. These were happier days.

Blin was born to a human slave kept by goblin mudrunners in the employ of Orcs. While his mother was no doubt sold off to be used and eaten, her half-bliney pup was of no use to anyone. Blin was left with the goblins where he performed simple cleaning duties and practiced with a dull knife. Not worthy of a goblin bow, Blin was allowed to practice with knives, an absolute last-ditch weapon for a race of creatures already half the size of their average opponent.

When Blin was finally (his half-human blood slowed his growth, reaching maturity at twelve summers instead of twelve moons) old enough to stand in a warline, he was given a broken bow that he was allowed to repair (it was dwarven, making the process long and difficult) and any arrows scavenged from the battlefield. Surviving his first battle (with twelve arrows of various quality, and the shortswords of a fallen comrade) his time in the goblin clan he was born into was complete. Having no further use for him, he was abandoned on the battlefield among the vultures and the dead.

Since then, he was worked as a bandit guide operating out of docks and human slums, helping a few ambitious thieves make names for themselves before they inevitably do something that gets them killed.

In cities and towns, Blin has a habit of pocketing things that are shiny. If they emit some sort of magical aura, his fingertips seem to feel it. Blin is adept at spotting traps through habit, and dodging them through practice and due to his exceptional climbing skills. Avoiding traps as frequently by noticing the hand of the designer, as by simply bouncing from safe spot to safe spot within an active device, Blin has learned how to treat and create poisons as a secondary skill and will coat his shortswords with them prior to combat.

Blin has collected a belt of daggers that he finds pretty. They are well-weighted for throwing and the shine off some of them is due to the enchantments on them. All are trophies and Blin has still not translated the writing on all of them.

Blin generally dresses in a coat of rags, allowing him to move unnoticed through cities when he needs to. Sewn to the back of the coat is an ancient warg hide, which glows silver in moonlight and black in shadow, allowing him to hide at night. His "armor" is quilted and filled with scrap shot, and can be folded into a satchel to hide his possessions while he scouts during the day.

Like all goblins, Blin sleeps one hour out of every nine, scouting for hours after waking up. He will generally cover his face to conceal the nose twitching and the licking, as well as the fact that he is goblin.

Name: Isca
Age: 21
Height: 5' 2”
Weight: 115 lbs
Build: slim athletic
Eyes: emerald green
Hair: black with highlights, soft waves, length; past shoulders..
Skin: pale,

Appearance: Has a pretty face, even striking with the unusual big green eyes.
Likes to wear purple. Can dress up in fancy cloths or in practical wear, depending on
her mood and needs.

Bio:
Found wondering in the woods alone by an old wizard when only 5 years old. The old man took her home and trained her in the fine art of wizardry. She learned to cast the usual spells, but her main strength was the power of her mind. She can read most people's minds, as well as feel lower animals' emotions.

Secretly of late she had been practicing the ability to be able to put suggestions into the weaker minds of some of the less intelligent ones that she came across near the village. She did this from a distance without their knowledge, but with no harm intended just a little bit of fun in her otherwise tame life. With more practice she knew she would be able to master this talent. She intended to keep working on it. Who knows, it could come in real handy one day.

Had been trained with the usual weapons but would rather rely on her spells and mind. She has an animal companion, an exotic oriental called Nefer. She was rescued from a travelling exotic pet show. The man didn't take care of his charges, so Isca relieved him of the poor beasts, setting most of them free. In her mind there is nothing worse then treating helpless creatures badly. She fixed his wagon, by casting a vomit spell on him. Whenever he looked at a helpless creature he would end up loosing his lunch by the side of the road. Just as she thought she had released all the poor creatures, at the last moment she came across a wee kitten. This poor thing was too ill to release, so she took her home and nursed her back to health. Isca mentally bonded the small feline to her, and knows when there is danger or of anyone approaching from the emotions she feels from Nefer.

Because of who she was raised by, the local people shunned Isca, which was fine by her, she had a hard time trusting people anyways. Six months ago, the old wizard lay dying and told Isca when he was gone to travel away from this place and find people and races she could help with her talents. There was so much she needed to learn about the world, she was really an infant compared to what she could become. He died soon after giving her these last instructions. After sadly burying her mentor she packed up her few belongings, put Nefer on her shoulder and set
out northeast

Welcome to the story Isca.

So out of curiosity, does Nefer actually look like he stuck his tail in a light socket?

lol....the image I have used is called Solange, and yes, she looks like that. But I did have a
Siamese , she was the love of my life and I am so glad to be able to have her here along for
the ride. Nefer's personality will be here for everyone to laugh at. ( here is a pic. of the real
Nefer)

Hi;
I know the writer for Blin, he has been having tech. problems. So hopefully he will be

Nefer sounds a lot like Nefereti, I had a cat named Nefereti once...she got tore up by bull terriers.

Anyway, Nefer was a lovely cat

Come to think about it...wasn't Isola, Nas and Maut supposed to go warn the human King?
