Hi Frodo, how are you? It is so nice seeing you and welcome to LIT and this thread. WOW, you read the whole thread? Thank you so much for your kind words and yes I would love to have you join in on our conversations. Also please feel free to start your own on here and ask questions etc?
ANother southern gentlemen, if you are as kind and sweet as Krondarr I am sure you will make allot of friends here at Lit. NASCAR I am not sure what that is. Is it anything like CART racing? The bank I work for is part sponsor for the CART race here in Toronto each summer. I only know one of the drivers Paul Tracy.
You sound like you have worked at some very interesting places. Working for NASA must have been so exciting. It was so terrible what happened with the shuttle last week. My heart goes out to all the families.
I see we have some of the same taste in authors. Are you reading anything exciting at this time? Again welcomet o LIT and I hope to see you again soon.

Yeah, I read the whole thread in one sitting :D

Working for NASA was an experience to say the least, even if only as a network engineer. But I do still have 2 routers on ISS in the lab module. That is perhaps my personal highlight there, to have actually taken part in space program and have hardware fly.

Yes this last week has been hard. We have a NASA center here, Marshall Space Flight Center. The main gate going onto the base has been turned into an impromptu memorial.

NASCAR my dear is stock car racing gone big league. Past big names would include Richard Petty, Neil Bonnet, AJ Foyt, Dale Earndhart and on and on. If you have the opportunity next weekend you may want to watch the Daytona 500 which is the first race of the season. If you want visit the NASCAR site www.nascar.com there you will find all kinds of things about the series.

Have a good weekend everyone.

I started my tomatoe seeds and turned my compost pile... not much i can do out side now :(

You seem to speak the lango of guys??? Baybe you'll get lucky tonight at the party??? I hope so!

Hi Jade. Yes, mom and baby are doing just fine. :) If your client is not a Tide fan then he wasn't born T town, or he went to school at Auburn University. He could be an Irish fan. You never know.

Just going to chill out this weekend, Jade. I hope your weekend is going well. Good to hear from you. Take it easy. Later.

Hi Jade, I am doing fine thank you. How are you doing? Thank you for the birthday wish. I had a great time thanks.

Hey Frodo. You ought t come down to Mobile for Mardi Gras. I know The Big Easy is more famous for it's Mardi Gras celebration, but Mobile's festival is more classy. Jade, would love to see you for Mardi Gras too. I know you would have a fabulous time. Catch you later.

If I weren't on hot standby for work travel I could consider it. I've heard many of my friends who have been talk about what a blast it is. I'm trying to arrange to hit Jazz Fest (New Orleans) but haven't decided which weekend to aim for yet.

No it works, I just wrote a huge reply to all of you and when I hit submit it said there was a problem and I lost everything.

Hi Frodo, how are you? Any plans for the weekend? How are things in the south? It is soooo cold here.

Huskie, whats up for the weekend? No I did not get lucky at the party. I did meet some very interesting people and had a great time.

Krondarr, How are you? Glad to hear that mother and baby are doing well. Yes, my client is a huge Tide fan. I tried to change his mind and get him to start being an Irish fan but he said no. He even tried to get me to become a Tide fan.

Canadian, how was the birthday? I hope you ware going to share some of the pics from the party with us.

Well I hope everyone is having a good week and enjoy the coming weekend. Hope this post this time.

LOL Well, Roll Tide Jade. Yeah, Tide fans are very loyal. I think it all goes back to Coach Paul Bear Bryant. It's a long story, and I won't bore you with the details.

My new nephew is being baptized on Sunday, and guess who the Godfather is? That's right, yours truely.

Good to hear from you, Jade. Stay sweet and keep warm. Later.

Hi Jade,

Only plans for the weekend are to watch racing and do a drain/refill on the hot tub. Have to get the tub ready for "potential" knee surgery...long story there. At least that will most likely take me out of the picture for work travel.

As for how are things here...it's 51 (f) and pouring down. Sunny south...not a chance lately, it's the soggy south. I'll be glad when the rainy season is over

Hi Jade_

I sent you a LOONG Pm this morning. I hope it came through.
Lit has had it's problems this week. I started writing long posts / PM's in notepad then copying to the board. That way if it doesn't go through I have a copy of it to repost

Is that a little a/r

Well put good sir. It's been pouring here since way early yesterday. That's cool so long as it doesn't start to freeze up...not going to comment on the 2 feet of water in the back yard... :)

Hope everyone had a GREAT Saturday, with NASCAR/Busch racing back how could it be bad? ;)

Good afternoon everyone.

Krondarr, you Tide fans are a loyal group. May I ask how good is the team? Congratulations on becoming a godfather. Is this your first time? I am just guessing that you are Catholic? Thanks, I am trying to keep warm but it is not easy. It has been so cold here all week.

Mr.Frodo, I see that the NASCAR race is on so I am guessing you are sitting there watching it. Who is your fave driver? I think you should give CART a chance to. Ever since I started working here I have gotten into it. It helps when we you free tickets :). May I ask what is wrong with your knee? Do you know for sure if you will need surgery? Hope you are doing ok and that everything will be fine.

Hi Berkley, thank you so much for the PM. I just read it and I hope to answer it back before I go off line today. So nice hearing from you again. How are things dow there? Hope work is going ok.

LOL, I am starting to think that NASCAR is really popular down south. OK who is everyones fave driver? I will watch the race today and pick mine. We could have alittle fun with this by seeing whoes driver has the most wins at the end of the season. They do have a season right? What do you think?

NASCAR is real popular down here, I have to admit that I don't follow it very closely, I would have to say I pull for the Petty Enterprises Team. They don't place real stong on points but it was a fourth generation team until Adam was killed. I fear that when Kyle retires from driving there won't be a Petty on the track for the first time ever. I grew up not far from Level Cross and tend to gravitate to the home-town arena. Also, Richard is the King with 200 race wins.

Work is good, I kinda dread tomorrow though. I'm afraid I spoke too soon to mr frodo as we have about a half-inch of ice on everything right now. Building maintenance and safety are part of my area of responsibility.

I look forward to talking more to you soon.

Berk :rose:

Jade,
Yes, NASCAR is very popular and not just here in the south, but all across the US, and a few other countrys (Australia and Japan each have a non-point race...or they did). I've been going to races for over 30 years now, and hope to be able to go to many more. Today's race probably wasn't the best to judge by, it didn't go the distance because of rain, but it did give a glimpse of what it's all about.

Next week should be a blast, they are at Rockingham which is a short track. There should be LOTS more banging and bumping. Short tracks are where NASCAR has it's roots, but the super speedways are exciting to watch from a strategy point of view.

As far as a favorite driver I'd have to say that mine is Kevin Harvick. But he's not the only one I pull for. I like several for many different reasons. And of course there are a few that just drive me nuts...rubberhead ;) ...anyone named Bodine...I could go on. Harvick is the driver that took over Dale Earndhart's drive after the wreck. He had some very big shoes to fill and really came through.

I'm not as much into open wheel racing (IRL, CART, USAC) as I used to be but I do enjoy it when I get the chance to watch a race. I do make it a point to watch the Indy 500 which happens to fall on the same day as the Coco-Cola 600. 1100 miles of racing in one day, it doesn't get any better. It's particularly interesting when a driver races in both, latest example was Tony Stewart last year. Michale Andretti (sp?) has been green lighted by Petty Enterprises to go for it this year, and I would assume Stewart will also.

Ah...my knee, torn cartelidge again. Once again I'll get to do my immitation of a Christmas turkey :(

They've just now issued a weather advisory here for freezing rain, what fun...and I won't get to break the sled out with my knee being fried.

Hello Jade

I'ts been a while since I've been by, I hope life has been treating you well.

Hi Jade. Thanks for the congrats. No, this is not my first godchild. My younger brother's son Alex was my first. Yes, we are very Catholic. The Crimson Tide was pretty good last year in that they won more games than they lost. I don't know how well the team will do this year. They have a new coach, so anything can happen.

I'm probably one of the minority of people in the south that doesn't really care for NASCAR. No offense to Mr. Frodo and his fellow fans, but I personally can't sit in front of a TV for two hours and watch cars speed around in a circle. I do know however that those races generate a lot of money for the places where they race so it is a good thing. If I did have a favorite driver I would have to say it was Richard Petty, but he's retired. Catch you later.

Hi cutie, how are you? The party was great thank you. LOL , well I will look around and see what pictures I can post from the party. What has been happening with you? I have to admitt I am a cart fan myself, Paul Tracy is one of my fave drivers. I was also a huge fan of Greg Moore before his death. As for Nascar I would have to say I would go for Ricky Rudd. So who did you pic as your driver? Hope you are having a great week.

Hi everyone. How is the start of the weekend shaping up?

Hi Berkley! How are you? Doing well I hope. What plans do you have for this weekend? Anything exciting happening? Did you get the ice strom you talked about? Enjoy.

Hello Mr. Frodo, what is happening with you? I am so sorry to hear about your knee. May I ask how did you hurt yourself? I wish you a quick recovery. What do you have planned for the weekend?

Brisbon so nice seeing you again. What have you been up to? I haven't seen you for such a long time. I hope all is well and that you will start popping in alittle more often.

Hi Krondarr, so nice seeing you again. Cool, you have been a godparent before. I am Catholic to see we have things in common. See I think you should change your team from the Tide to the Irish :) hehe.

Canadian, how are you? What do you have planned for the weekend? I have been very busy with work, this time of the year it is crazy around here. Yes, Paul Tracy is a great driver I love watching him race. Well I have decided to go for Rusty Wallace during the NASCAR season. Ok I will have to ask Mr. Frodo to help keep track who is leading our little pool.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and be safe.

sorry Jade. I'm not a NASCAR fan. But the race is going on this weekend about 45 min from house! They keep my town slam pack with traffic during this time of year! It's all rigged you know? Like pro wrestling.
