Looking around her small encloser, Angel knew that this was the day to escape. She needed to today or she'd be doomed to spending her whole life in this cave. While she might only last a short century, she did not want to spend the rest of her short years in here.
Getting up, she brushed aside her small blanket and put on her thin head dress. While it might be small and fragile, made of a single thread with only 10 beads and a tiny silver-green pendant, it had lasted her whole life. Securing it in place with a few hair pins, Angel marveled once again at how long it'd lasted.
Shaking her head, she put on her black top and long blue skirt. Going over to the wooden chest, she opened it and took out her only pair of shoes, brown leather sandals. Taking out the necklace, she secured it around her neck before taking out the remaining item, a backpack. Angel had never opened it, but knew that sometime on her journey, she would find out. Putting it on, she picked up her blanket and wrapped it around her shoulders.
Leaving her sleeping area for the last time, she passed 5 sleeping dragons as she headed toward the back of the cave. One sleepy eye opened and marked her passing. Nodding, the dragon knew what she was doing and secretly approved.
Walking quietly as she could, Angel made her way down the back tunnels to the ground level. Once there, she was surprised to find a spring of fresh water. Why hadn't the other dragons told me about this, she wondered. It'd be great to bathe in.
