Hillary To Connect With Middle Class, Will Do Two Events In Iowa, Neither Are Open To The Public…

Hillary doesn’t want to take any questions in the early stages of her campaign.

Hillary Clinton will do small-scale events and private meetings during a two-day Iowa swing Tuesday and Wednesday, campaign aides told The Des Moines Register Sunday.

Small is the operating word of her trip.

Just two small events were announced: She’ll do an educational roundtable at a branch campus of Kirkwood Community College and do a business roundtable at Capital City Fruit in Norwalk, a small town just south of Des Moines. Neither event will be open to the public, and there will be limited access to the news media.

“It will be the first of many conversations with Iowans about how to make the economy work so everyday Americans and their families can actually get ahead and stay ahead,” said Lily Adams, the Clinton campaign’s Iowa spokeswoman.

Clinton will also meet privately with elected officials, community leaders, activists and other Iowans, aides said.

“This first trip will focus on smaller communities in Iowa while other parts of the state will be visited on future trips,” Adams said.

Campaign leaders have said Clinton plans to take a more humble approach this time around, focusing on message events in small settings. How she is perceived in Iowa will have a big impact on how the coverage of her race takes shape, Iowa strategists said. Clinton is likely to be the most scrutinized candidate in the race. Smaller events will allow her to interact with real people, listen, and re-introduce herself as someone who cares about working families, Iowa Democrats said.

On Tuesday at 1:15 p.m., Clinton will do the roundtable with students and educators and tour the Kirkwood Community College’s Jones County Regional Center, south of Monticello.

At 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, she’ll be in Norwalk to tour Capital City Fruit, a small family-owned business, and meet the company’s employees. Then she’ll do a roundtable with members of the small-business community.

Virtually everybody in our government is. According to a quick google tells me the median income of Congress is just over a million dollars. I did check a few other sites and they give varying numbers but all close enough. The combination of education and connections it takes to get into congress in teh first place does not leave room for lots of poor and average people. Which makes sense, could you take six months off your job to apply for a job you might not get? The same goes for donations, lets be honest when Bill Maher writes out a million dollar check it doesn't really hurt him. When your average American writes out a thousand dollar check that's a huge deal for them.

So if being part of the 1% and funded by the 1% means you can't fight for the 99% there are few if any in all of government who are qualified and we may as well give up and find out where our nearest serfdom is. MAybe if we give up quietly the masters will be kind?
