Jack had just finished rubbing her shoulders as she quickly wrapped herself up in his arms. He let out a long sigh and closed his eyes. He quickly envisioned spending the next 30-something years exactly like this and it made him smile. From the way she was working herself ever closer to him, he could tell that this is exactly where she wanted to be as well. Then, her question caught him a bit off guard.
He kissed her softly on the head again, squeezing her young form against his body. Unconsciously, he blinked several times as his mind formulated a response. It wasn’t like he actually had to think all that hard about it. In his heart, he knew exactly what he was looking for, but his words needed to be precise. She needed to understand that he wasn’t looking for just anyone. No, he had his crosshairs fixed on her.
With a deep breath, he began, “Well, my dear..” He brushed her damp hair back out of her face so he had an unobstructed view of her eyes and face. “I have grown tired of women coming and going in my life. I want someone I can grow old with.” He paused and rolled his eyes. “You see, with the others, it all became so monotonous, so boring. And while you may not think that you are anything special, I can see it in you. I've seen it already. You are constantly challenging me… and I realized that with you, my life would never become boring again.” He chuckled lightly at the thought. Then, he gave her a wry smile and added, “By the way, you used the wrong verb tense… you should have said FALLING!” At those words, he kissed her softly on the lips and held her tight, secretly hoping that she was feeling the same way.
