Nikola Tesla (1856-1943), Pioneered AC electrical power supply systems and was a leader in wireless communication and machine control as well as X-Ray imaging.

More recently, his name was attached to an electric car company by a billionaire.
 
Tesla is also the subject of a They Might Be Giants song. way better than a silly car being named after you)
