Kali had always been the girl who thought of others and found herself spending alot of her free time volunteering for different causes. It was nearing the holiday season and she had heard of an idea that had sparked her interest. People were sending "care packages" overseas to the US troops stationed there. When she got home from her dance practice she looked it up online. It semed simple enough. They provided you with a list of items that the troops were either in need of or wanted that were allowed.... She made a list of things she would like to include and found herself writing a letter to the stranger whom would recieve her package.....

Hello, my name is Kali. I live in Arizona. I know this letter may sound a little cheesy but I'm sorry, I've never really written a letter to someone I don't know... but it made so much sense. You are over there fighting for us and not getting to spend the holidays with your friends and family.... so I wanted you to know that there are people here who are thinking about you. I hope you are doing well.... and that the things I have provided in this package are things that you can use and want. I would love to exchange letters with you or whatever if you are interested, if not...I completly understand.... just know that I would really enjoy it. Well, I won't keep you any longer.... She included her address at the bottom of the letter as well as her email before placing it on the top of the items in the box. She sealed the box and labeled that outside stating that it was intended for a MALE. She dropped it at the local post office the next day and quickly got on with her routine.

After a couple of weeks friends who were all participating as well were discussing how a couple of them had gotten letters back, thanking them and what not.... Kali was slightly dissapointed but then again how could she be? She wasn't doing it for that reason, she was doing it because they deserved to be recongnized.

Terry was looking forward to going home. He was finishing up his second tour in Afghanistan and was happy to be close to leaving the mountainous terrain behind. He was sitting around the base when the clerk began to handout care packages. The clerk walked up and handed him one. Terry looked at the clerk and handed the package back to him. "Give it to someone who is going to be here. I am heading home in five days." The clerk wouldn't take it... he said they had more than enough for everyone to get one... in fact some guys in the unit were getting two.

O'Reilly opened the package and read the note. It made him smile to think that someone took the time to not only put a package together, but also to take the time to write a note and show her appreciation. He also noticed that she was in Arizona... not far from where his parents had recently retired. He folded the note up and put it in his pocket; planning to write a thank you to the sender.

Terry completely forgot about writing the thank you note as he prepared for his journey home. When he finally arrived at Naval Station San Diego, he found the note crumpled up in his pocket. He was disappointed in himself and decided he needed to sit down and write the note to Kali. That evening he wrote a thank you and put it in an envelope, but he did not have a stamp to put on it. He decided that since it had been several weeks, and he was getting leave soon and was going to see his parents, that he would hand deliver the thank you.

As Terry drove home, he punched in the address for Kali Riley's home into his GPS. After a couple of recalculations by the GPS, he found the house. He took the thank you note out, and wrote a note on the back of the envelope apologizing for not sending it sooner, so, he just dropped it off as he drove through town. He walked to the door and placed it in the mailbox. He did not want to disturb Kali, so, he turned and headed back to his car. As he walked back toward his car, a car pulled into the driveway. There was an attractive woman driving. Terry did not know if that was Kali. He waved at the woman and stopped. he didn't want her to think he was doing anything wrong, so, he waited until the woman got out of the car and said, "Hi, I was just leaving a note for Kali. She sent a care package overseas, and I received it. I forgot to send her a thank you and decided to drop it off as I was driving to my parents' house."

The day had been intense. Dance practice was rough and Kali was exhausted. She was frustrated and didn't even bother to hit the showers or the locker room afterwards, she would just shower at home. She climbed in her car wearing her sports bra and spandex shorts it was a scortching 101 outside anyway.

As Kali pulled into her driveway she saw an unfamiliar car and a guy at her house. She put the car in park and got out. She couldn't help but to look him up and down, she def didn't know him, she would have remembered...... Then he spoke.......

"....Wait......My care package went to you and you came to thank me?" she laughed, "Wow, and I was jealous when the other girls got thank you notes." she smiled at him, "Well, I'm Kali...It's nice to meet you........."

Terry walked around to the driver's side of the car and extended his hand to Kali. "I am so sorry that I did not send you a thank you note. I was preparing for coming home and when I got here I found your note in my pocket. I decided I would drop it off since I was going past here on my way to my parent's house."

His eyes wandered over Kali's body. She was beautiful and had an incredible body that was accentuated by the outfit she had on. He started to sweat. It was a combination of the heat and the fact he was wearing fatigues and the fact that Kali was so hot.

"I don't want to take any more time from your day, Kali. I simply wanted to drop the thank you off. it is in your mailbox. It was very nice of you to send it, and the note you included made me smile and feel good about what I was doing." He turned and began to walk toward his car.

She was surprised at what she heard him say....Kali smiled, "well I'm glad I was able to make you smile." she could see he was obviously warm in his uniform.. She was sweating and she was hardly wearing anything. Could she really let their little interaction end then? She realized she didn't want it to....she scrammbled to find an excuse for him to stay a little longer. "well I didn't have plans for the rest of my day, so you aren't keeping me from anything...... I mean, if you'd like to come in and have something to drink or something... I don't want to keep you from your family tho. I'm sure they are all ready to spend some quality time with you...I know I would be." She walked over to the mailbox and pulled the note out and smiled at the envelope and then looked over at him, awaiting his response.

He watched her walk over to the mailbox and take out the note he had left. He saw her smile and then look back at him. "Well, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, I could really go for a water, ma'am. It is pretty hot, especially in this suit." He waited for her response.

Why wouldn't he want to spend a little more time with her. She was gorgeous and that body was so easy on the eyes. "My family isn't expecting me for a couple days. I got here a little quicker so that I could get you the note, so, they won't really miss me."

Kali smiled, relived that he agreed to come inside. "no problem at all.. Come on in." she led the way up the steps and opened te front door, happy that she was a very clean person. Once they were in the kitchen she poured them each a glass of water. "so, tell me about yourself..."

Terry followed Kali up the steps. He enjoyed the view he got of her body, enhanced by the fact that she was only wearing a sports bra and spandex shorts. He held the screen door open for her as she unlocked the door and then he followed her inside. He looked around and was impressed with how clean and organized Kali's place was. "You have a very nice place," he commented to her.

Terry followed her into the kitchen and watched as she moved to pour them water. Every movement she made was graceful. It was a joy to watch her. "Well, I am a Lieutenant in the Marine Corp. I just finished serving my second tour in Afghanistan. After graduating from college, I didn't know what I wanted to do with my engineering degree, so, I signed up. My last six years have been spent serving Uncle Sam. Other than that there is not much to tell... unless you wanted to hear about the mountains along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border."

Terry took a drink from the glass of water. "Tell me about you."

Kali laughed and nodded her head, "Fair enough.... Well, I am a dancer for the Pheonix Suns here in Arizona. I enjoy it alot. I grew up in Oregon and moved to Arizona for college. I went to ASU before joining the Suns Dance Team. I'm a sports fanatic....drives all my girlfriends crazy. haha..... umm, what else would you like to know about me?" she took a drink from her glass and smiled at him. It was wierd, with him it didn't feel like they were total strangers, he was easy to chat with and she didn't mind the small talk....

"Oh, a dancer for the Suns. Now that makes sense... well, the outfit and all. I thought you were dressing to beat the heat.... not that I minded." He smiled at her... wondering if she would think his comment was inappropriate.

He didn't wait for her to say anything. "Tell me anything you would like to share.... your favorite sports teams, other than the Suns , obviously; what you like to do for fun; are you married, dating, single?" He smiled at her again. He had not been in the company of a real woman in a long time and he was not sure how far he could go.... after all, as hot as she was there had to be guys hitting on her all the time.

Kali laughed as she looked down at herself, "yeah, this isn't really my everyday lounge ware.." she laughed. "more about me huh? Well I am a sports fanatic, besides the suns I love football, the 49ers actually... I follow college sports too, USC and UConn particularly... Umm what else, I'm single, no kids or anything so it's just me here.." She watched him as she answered his questions. "So you're telling me that your family isn't expecting you for a few days, they are certainly going to be surprised when you show up early huh? Whose all waiting for you when you get to your parent's house?" She paused and thought for a minute before she continued, "Are you leaving this part of town right away or are you hanging out before you go?"

"Just my parents are going to be there. They live alone. I live wherever Uncle Sam sends me. They did not have an exact date for my arrival, but I told them it would be sometime around the end of the week." Terry watched her eyes as he spoke. He thought he saw a little twinkle when he said they were not expecting him until the end of the week, but that could just have been wishful thinking. After all, he had not been in this close proximity to a beautiful woman in a long time.

"I really did not have any plans. The only thing I planned was bringing that thank you note to you. I was upset with myself for not writing it right away, so, I was determined to get it here as quickly as possible. As for leaving this part of town.... I had not given it much thought, but I really don't know anyone in these parts. My parents moved here, and I am not from this area."

Kali tried to mask her excitment when he stated he wasn't expected until the end of the week.... That was a couple of days away still. She smiled and nodded her head, "I see... Well, if you decide to stick around I would be more than happy to give you a little tour...... one of the guys on the team (the suns) is having a party tonight..... you would probably have a good time..... free food, drinks and plenty of gorgeous women..." she smiled at him. She hadn't been sure if she was going to attend the party herself but she needed to give him a reason to stick around, even if it was only for a little while....

"Wow, that sounds like a great time," he said to Kali. "However, I am not sure that I have anything appropriate to wear to a high end party like that. Plus, I don't have any place to stay." He looked at her to gauge her response, before continuing.

"However, if you would be willing to take me shopping and show me a few stores to get some clothes, and then show me where I can find a place to stay for the night, I would love to accompany you to the party. And, by the way, I am sure that you are going to be the most gorgeous woman at this party."

Kali laughed and rolled her eyes, "You obviously haven't been to a Suns party before.... I am pretty average around these parts....but thank you..... As far as shopping you may not know what you are getting yourself into, but sure. I'll take you." She took another drink from her water and set it aside, "And you are more than welcome to stay here... I mean, it's not much but for a night I can't imagine you need a whole lot, especially when we aren't going to be here for most of it......"

"Well, I can't imagine you being average at any party, but I am not going to get into a debate about that with you. I would appreciate you taking me shopping to get something appropriate to wear to this party. I only have what I am wearing and a copy pairs of shorts and t-shirts with me. Wasn't planning on much during visit with the parents."

He saw her smile at the shopping idea, and wasn't sure what he was getting himself into. "As far as staying here.... I don't want to inconvenience you in any way. After all, I just popped in here unannounced."

Kali smiled and nodded et head. "I wouldn't offer if I had a problem with it... I need to shower before I go anywhere tho.... Give me 20 minutes.. Make yourself at home." Kali ran upstairs and jumped into the shower and quickly slipped a jean skirt and tank top on

Terry sat down and waited for Kali to get ready. He couldn't believe where this had led. He was sitting in a beautiful woman's home and she was going to take him shopping to get something to wear to a party with a bunch of professional athletes.

While he sat there, his mind drifted to Kali in the shower. That was a hell of a thought. Seeing the water pour over her sexy body, or, more precisely, the thought of the water pouring over her body, was an arousing image.

Then, Kali came down the stairs... She looked amazing in her jeans skirt and tank top. He stood up and said, "Wow, you look great. I am going to look way out of place with you." He looked at himself in the camo. "Well, I think I can deal with it. Come on. I'll drive and you can point the way."

Kali laughed and shook her head, "your sweet." they wet out to his car and she directed him to the mall where she knew there would be clothes that would work for him for the party. They made small talk along the way and when they arrived Kali directed him to a store with men's dress clothes. She guided him to a specific section, "alright anything from this section is gonna look great... See anything you like?" as he looked at te options Kali noticed the girls all looking at him in his uniform it made her smile

Terry picked out a couple shirts and a couple pairs of pants. He looked at each and tried to see which made the best match for the kind of party that he envisioned Kali was taking him to that night.

Terry wasn't sure what was appropriate. He didn't usually go for anything real flashy... he wasn't the kind of person that liked to draw attention to himself. He also did not want anything too boring.... he was concerned with how Kali would look showing up with someone who was dressed inappropriately. He turned to Kali, "which of these do you think would be the best for the party?"

Kali smiled at him and took the shirt from his left hand. "this one.... I like the shirt and the color compliments the dress I'm going to wear." she laughed. "it's nice to have a date to go with me."

Terry took the everything he had in his hands to the counter and paid for it. He figured it couldn't hurt to have an extra outfit to wear. He took the bag from the clerk and walked out of the store with Kali. "What time does the party start? Do I have time to buy you lunch before we head back to get ready?"

He stood there waiting for her reply... watching as all the guys that passed by checked Kali out. It pissed him off a little and he wasn't sure why. She wasn't his girlfriend. He had only met her a little while ago.

Kali watched as he paid and smiled, "We have time to eat.....What sounds good to you?" As they walked out of the store she looped her arm thru his as they started to walk thru the mall. Kali liked being around him.... it just felt good.

He looked over at Kali as she looped her arm through his. This felt awesome. He was walking through the mall with a beautiful woman on his arm, and he was going to a party with her that night. All in all... perfect.

They came upon a restaurant, and he led her inside without asking if it was okay. He told the hostess they wanted a booth and were led to a booth that looked out onto the mall. He allowed Kali to slide into the booth, and he slid in across from her. He looked at her and smiled. "Thank you for all of this. It is awesome, and so are you."

Kali smiled as they slipped into the booth. "There's really no need to thank me.... I mean, I just wasn't ready for a friend I only just met to disappear so soon." she leaned back in the booth and looked over at him, "Plus you're the one saving me from going to yet another party solo." she winked at him playfully.
