Sitting at the red light, Natasha Greene stared at the hypnotic movement of the windshield wipers, the steady drum of rain all but drowning out the weather report.
".... high probability.... thunderstorms.... damaging winds...."
Scoffing a little at the high probability of a thunderstorm, when she had been driving through rain for the last 20 minutes, Natasha was just grateful that she was almost home. Two more lights to go and she'd be there. She still had a hard time believing the split Colonial was hers, but there was no way she could continue living in the basement of her parents' house and all of her friends had cramped apartments and weren't interested in giving up their roosts so close the bar scene.
The light finally turned green and Natasha carefully navigated her blue classic Volkswagon Beetle onto the country road, trying not to think about the Infinity M37 that she had come so close to buying two months ago before deciding that she'd rather have her own place. She consoled herself with the thought that she'd been fortunate to find the house at such an awesome price, even if it was more remote than she had originally envisioned. Almost missing her last turn in the downpour, Natasha promised herself that she'd look into replacing her trusty Beetle as soon as she finished her painting and decorating projects.
Hitting the garage door opener, she undid the French braid that had confined her hair while at the bank where she worked as an Accounts Manager. Her long black hair settled around her shoulders as she slowly pulled in and closed the door. Natasha walked in, dropping her briefcase by the door and started walking up the stairs to the second floor wanting nothing more than an nice, hot shower. Leaving a trail of clothes along the way, she giggled to herself as she celebrated the fact that there was no one to tell her to pick things up, even if she knew she'd tidy up as soon as the shower was over.
After turning the shower on, Natasha padded around the bathroom, lighting candles here and there just in case the electricity went out. Setting her Ipod to random play, she cranked it up and then slipped into the shower, letting the hot water soothe her tired neck and shoulder muscles.
