As I understand campaign finance laws, the huge amount of money in the "Committee to Reelect Joe" CANNOT go to another candidate. So we Americans are stuck with Statler and Waldorf as the two idiots running for President.

Campaign money is definitely an issue if switching. There are ways to maneuver, but likely a ton of money will be unable to be spent for the new candidate.

So a replacement candidate would have to startup funding from scratch, and if it's Harris, there's not going to a whole helluva a lot because she's as bad in the polls as Biden. This is going to be one for the books, this is.

Special dispensation is what happens. ..... we cannot have an uncontested Presidential election, the system will not allow that to happen....
This means that whatever rules there are will be suspended and/or bent or broken so that we have 2 names on the ballot - 1 from each major party.

Yep, I would guess that makes sense, altho if the shoe was on the other foot, I could see the Democrat's going all out to try and keep the replacement GOP candidate Off the ballot, because that's the way Democrat's roll.

Could they refund it to the donors and then redonate it? I guess there are ways, but wow, this is really going to be fascinating to see how this is all handled. Some will, but I think if Biden stands down, we will probably see State Legislation to deal with this particular circumstance now and in future. Unfortunately the Democrats have poisoned the well of bipartisanship so it may not be as bipartisan as it should be, depending on the State and the political relationships, but I suspect everyone will recognize the necessity.

In other news of things that won't happen AOC is pushing for the impeachment of SCOTUS.

Instead of wasting our time on this meaningless BS maybe they should push bills to address the rising housing prices in America, or perhaps something to provide more security on the southern border. I keep hearing that's a "Crisis" and an "Invasion" is just streaming across it. Yet Rep. Chip Roy wastes what little time he has left in office for this 25th Amendment bill that has a snowball's chance in hell of accomplishing anything but a spot on Fox and Friends or Newsmax for him.

Although I agree with you that we have more pressing problems right now, I think it's good to see our side pushing for big picture things like this. The Republicans have gotten a lot of mileage out of that for a very long time now, and it does a great job of keeping their base whipped up. That's what we need right now if we're going to beat Twitler again.

Also, it occurs to me that, with the Republicans currently in charge of the House and able to bring the Senate to a halt with the filibuster, our chances of doing anything about affordable housing are not actually any better than our chances of impeaching the Coathanger Five.
