Housewife is an ex-pornstar

I personally would be far more interested in the reverse scenario: where a housewife strays outside the boredom of her everyday life to become something intriguing, perhaps behind hubby's back.
This is kind of what I'm thinking at the moment except it's for a better reason than just boredom.

This is why I make notes for ideas. I may or may not ever revist them but I have the basic ideas stored away.
I'll keep the notes and rough draft I've already made. I might revisit it later and try rework it once I've gotten it a bit more organised in my head. I still like the idea, I'm just not quite happy with how it's playing out at the moment.

Actually, 'just boredom' has its definite, attractive side. It tends to imply that the housewife has an unsatisfied or unfulfilled urge not being met by hubby and that she isn't one to let that remain the case for long.

'Getting even', being blackmailed or tricked into it and all the other possibilities tend to have 'understandable' elements, i.e. that she has a justification or things are conspiring against her, whereas doing it out of sheer inclination speaks of a delicious infidelity streak in her.

Oh, I completely agree. "Just boredom" is a perfectly good excuse, but it wasn't what I had in mind for the character. I like my main characters to have just a bit of doubt or reluctance in them, but go ahead because they have to. I'll probably use the "just bored" excuse in the future, if I can ever focus long enough to finish a story XD

I find this intriguing. It illustrates that we all have different enthusiasms as regards motives for straying etc. As either a reader or author, Person X will get more turned on, knowing that a character is "doing it" for a stated specific reason than Person Y will. Conversely, Person Y's favoured driving motive will leave Person X cold, quite possibly.

An author always has to bear in mind, IF he or she is writing for a readership rather than just their own pleasure, that not everyone may find the story as arousing as he or she does precisely on account of this.

I get the impression that this wide range of personal tastes lies behind half or more of the debates and discussions on these fora. I also get the impression that, although this is a fairly simple point, many fail to take it on board.

I found your original idea pretty interesting as a way to set up a story and it gave me an idea for something similar. Would you mind if I stole your idea and made a few changes? I've been thinking about a way to structure these ideas I've had and I think I've found it.

I very much write for myself. My way of thinking is that if I can't write something I'm enjoying, I can't write something someone else will enjoy. My heart wouldn't be in it and I think that would be obvious on the page. I always like my characters to have a motivation beyond selfish pleasure.

Please do! I don't own the idea and if you think you can write something with it, then please do use it :)

:)

Ah but therein precisely lies the rub. When you strip all else away, 'selfish pleasure' is actually the very heart of all sex.

Yes, there may be innumerable other factors at play in a secondary role - the thrill of the chase, the background circumstances, the characters and various plot twists, everything, in short, which can go into making up the actual story and which are so obviously missing from much of the stuff served up on the Lit. archive. BUT, having said that, the sex act, in all but the crudest of non-consent situations, is all about self, self and self again. Even the sex partner cannot be more, in essence, than a tool to serve that pleasure - and their various attributes: looks, personality, whatever, all go towards the attainment of the end goal of all sex - that 'selfish orgasm'.

Of course, if you're talking about lurve, that is not at all the same thing, as has often been said.
