How do I get my avatar to work?

I thought avatar's could be used once you got to 100 posts. But I've achieved this goal and nothing has changed. I haven't been given any special perks. Why?

Will I ever be able to post my messages with my avatar clearly on display?

You need to estblish a new session so vBulletin will run through the auto-promotion check. Essentially that means logging out and/or going away for fifteen to twenty minutes so you're automaticaly logged out.

Thanks for the suggestions...but none of them worked!

When I go into the User CP and select 'edit avatar' it only gives me one option. This is already selected and it says 'do not use an avatar' but it cannot be de-selected.

Do you have to pay to get an avatar? If not, what else could I try?

Thanks
Lester.

You may need to refresh that page -- depends on your browser and your browser settings, but you're likely seeing the cached version of the page because it does NOT automatically update unles you have your browser set to refresh EVERY page EVERY time it's requested.

No, you don't have to pay for an avatar, you just have to outsmart than the software quirks.

..my avatar doesn't work either.. so if anyone figures it out .. would be great

To the thread starter--listen to Weird Harold and be patient. Sometimes it takes a while.

Thanks for the tips. I don't know what happened but I clicked on 'edit avatar' and more options came up. It had nothing to do with my refresh settings though. I didn't touch them because I knew they were fine.

How do you know so much any way? Have you ever thought about logging onto Yahoo! Answers and sharing your knowledge? Here's the link:

I know so much because I pay attentionto what's going on and I spent 21 years analyzing malfunctions -- essentially a carer in practical application of Problem Solving Theory.

I haven't and would never consider logging onto Yahoo answers -- In fact I avoid any contact with ANY Yahoo related site as much as possible. I avoid Yahoo and MSN sites because they are the two worst sources of "data miners" and "tracking cookies" on the Web and don't function unless you grant permission to place their tracking cookies.

I don't have a problem with data miners or tracking cookies - just as long as they're not put on my computer to cause damage. It's malicious spyware I don't like.

Have you ever invented anything?

Dataminers and Tracking cookies are often the source of tailored advertising -- AKA SPAM. I don't allow dataminers or tracking cookies and I get maybe three SPAM e-mails a month; How much SPAM do you get?
