Ignoring them usually works because in most cases they're making the threats to get you riled up or attention for themselves.

It depends on the nature/seriousness of the threats, though. If they're threatening bodily harm and you can prove such, there are other courses of action you can take.

PM the forum Moderator and let them know. Threatening someone here is pretty serious to them. At the bottom of each page and to the right should be who the Mods are for whichever forum is needed.

its not in a forum, its in PM's...i PMed the whosisface that does all the site announcements. so maybe that will work?

I hope reporting them to the site admin get's them banned. I've heard of a lot of people who simply stopped coming because of this sort of thing. It's a shame.

But whatever you do don't respond to the person in question in any way.

Look for this symbol

or other "report this post" marker -- I'm not sure if it's there on PMs or not, but it should be.

Tho put someone on ignore, click on their name and select "view profile." On their profile, on the right hand side, just under (the space for) the profile picture is a link to "Add this user to your ignore list" (or Remove user from your ignore list if they're already there.)

That saves you the trouble of remembering how to spell their name when you go directlyto your ignore list.

Hopefully, Many will get around to putting add to Ignore List on the drop down menu under the username to save a step.

...out of curiosity - does the person know if they have been blocked by someone? (ie once blocked, if they send a PM to the person who has blocked them, do they get an auto-reply saying that their PM has been rejected?)

I know quite a few myself - and have seen veiled attacks on forum also. Doesn't seem like banning is a big thing around here, or a huge amount of people would be gone. (and then just come back as alts - so what's the point, really)

Best thing is to just ignore them and not answer them. They'll get tired of being juvenile and move on to trashing someone else. (now - this also works well if you do nothing to troll for attention)

When they PM you go to there profile and click on "add user to your ignore list" That is what I tell the members of the forum that I run....If they don't stop then I can do other stuff to there account.

BTW folks, Lit is based on free speech. It's actually kind of hard to get yourself banned here just for being nasty. If you start giving out personal information like real names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses then that is grounds for removal. But just because somebody is being a dick isn't reason enough to remove them here...so the ignore feature is really your best friend.
