How Do I Put Text On A Picture?

I'm trying to take some of the pictures I have on my computer and put funny captions on them to put on my friends' MySpace pages. I can insert a text box in Paint and type my caption in there, but I don't like the big, blank area it leaves. I want to be able to leave the pic background up and write on top of it, if that makes any sense. Does this require a special program, or am I just missing something obvious? Thanks in advance.

photoshop, paintshop, or elements.... it can be done without these programs... but it is sooo much simpler

Dammit. That's what I was afraid of. I have none of those things. Thanks, though. :rose:

Try Gimp...its free, and you can make the background of your text box transparent so that you just see the text and the pic, not that blank space.

Thanks, cloudy! I'm going to download it now. :rose:

depending on what kind of internet connection you have... and whether or not you have the right programs... cough **p2p** cough you could get any of those programs free... illegal to do so... but if you were to do so anyways... i would recommend jasc paintshop for a beginners needs

you're welcome. :)

It takes a little getting used to, but it'll do just about anything photoshop will.

MSPaint is included with windows.

Almost any program that can edit images at all will allow you to add text to an image -- Gimp and IrfanView are both free programs that can add text -- Gimp is an Image Editor and IrfanView is an Image Manager.

I vote for Gimp too!

There are a whole set of tutorials on the web that will guide you through most beginning things.
