Hi there. I installed this game demo that turned out to be a horrible little, crappy-ass program that first prompted me for the disk, even though it's a downloaded demo file, and wouldn't let me quit the installation. But I got it to work but now I can't remove it. I run the uninstallation program and it starts then quits without doing anything.

Add/Remove programs doesn't work either. What's the best way to get rid of it? Should I just delete the folder and the registry entries?

Ta.

Go to control panel, add remove programs and delete from there. strange that does not work. Yes get rid of all folders you find with it, and then try running the spyware programs and see what they find.

I think he said he tried that (that is what "Add/Remove" says to me anyway).

If you know the file name or the *.exe name you can right click on the start buttom and explore to find the file then rip it's little heart out. I would also suggest a good free spyware tool as well, to pull out the evil adware crap you probably had to agree to include in the download of the demo. Then take you Windows disk and reinstall windows to patch up any of the places that might have accidently gotten screwed up by the demo.

Come to think of it, when was the last "restore point" or back up you did to your computer? Can you afford to lose any and all information you might have collected since that restore point to get rid of the demo? That might be better than going in and manually ripping the program out.

I use a free program called CCleaner a fair bit to clean a lot of rubbish off my P.C. I was flicking through the tools today and noticed an option for uninstalling programs.
I have never ran the uninstaller myself, so I can't vouch for how good that part of the program is, but I find the rest of CCleaner's options excellent and very easy to use.
