How long does pending usually take?

I have kind of given up on this. One off my stories sat for more than 12 days...multiple support messages got no response. Finally,I read on one of the threads that it would be better to delete the submission and just resubmit it, which I finally did on the 28th, after waiting 14 days. So I guess I am in the back of the queue again. Interestingly, a story that gets sent back, which you edit and then resubmit, seems to take a lot longer to process. Both my current stories that are stuck, fall in that bucket. :(

The official guidance is to do nothing for 30 days, then send a PM to Laurel (click on the envelope near the top of the screen).

Collected experience here highlights a couple of factors:
  • Established authors do better than new ones
  • Contest submissions take priority
Resubmitting is a bad move, as you end up at the back of the queue again.

I would never resubmit a stuck story without first sending a polite message to Laurel asking her to investigate the situation. It costs nothing and prevents your story getting send to the back of the queue unnecessarily.
