You already answered your own question. I am a relative newbie here, and I notice some threads have 'Invite only' so I would rather not butt in on someone else's thread when I might not be welcome there, so I made a thread and I watch it closely in hopes of getting to know some people.

because this is the lounge for an SRP board. Its full of writers... Writers are inherently dramatic. If they weren't every story would be dull, boring and lifeless. So while not writing in a story we find other ways to entertain ourselves... using words... talking about words and having very strong opinions we like sharing, with everyone.
Perhaps if we had more smut happening we could be diverted to using our little brains rather than our big ones.

Invite Only rooms, are just that, invite only. They aren't meant for the usual kink and flow of the lounge, but otherwise, feel free to pop in anywhere. Of course, you're intelligent enough to realize that by opening a thread that isn't marked Invite Only, people can also pop in and leave random comments or may start conversations that have people getting up on their soapbox. Not really a bad thing, actually. I realize that this is a porn forum but we are a community so all manner of things get brought up from time to time. I think it definitely depends on how much free time one has, how much time does he/she need to work up a post and so on...

So back to the original purpose of this thread....it really depends. (which should have been one of the poll answers) Right now I'm only writing one, but I've done up to three at a time. I think it also depends on who is the "mastermind" of the piece, or if the people writing are equal. I've had to stop stories because I was the only one moving the plot along, and that is no fun.

As for my thread, I can't put it as invite only as I don't really know anyone here, and the whole purpose of the thread was to talk to people and get to make some friends, so closing it would defeat the purpose, so I just went on with it. No risk no gain

I definitely don't mind random comments that have absolutely nothing to do with the original topic. I think it was an interesting idea, but it can only go on for so long, so changing the thread into a random chit chat thread is not a bad idea to me, and any new comers can vote and leave comments regarding the original topic.

It would definitely be better if the thread is free of childish comments and definitely welcomes all opinions.

There was a time in the states that many referred to a black male as "boy", no matter their age. It was using language to keep a certain part of the population oppressed. Since, it would be absolutely uncouth and quite racist to do so now, the practice is uncommon at best, and used by only the most disgusting of Americans.

Take this little piece of history and apply it to the present. You yourself, (and others) have stated that to be called a "boy" would make you feel quite horrid, like a dog, and not quite as "manly". We are all to respect the fact that you are indeed "manly", and it's socially constructed that we respect this fact about you (and others).

But, you persist in calling grown and adult women, "girls". And you hide behind the fact that "some girls like it", and that many people say it, therefore it must be okay.

It isn't. Furthermore, it is quite rude, and infantilizing to do so to adult women. Again, we are using language to oppress a certain group. While it's not a huge thing, it is one piece, and that one piece adds to the overall picture of misogyny, patriarchy, and so on. Regardless, that some women may like it, I do believe that this particular word choice is and should be up to the individual woman.

I hope that I've made this absolutely clear, and that you're continued obtuseness is neither cute nor endearing.
