Hello all long time no see......well me and 5pintshefound have been rather busy the last few monthes......we just bought a house in Pennsylvania for my family to live in while I'm stationed in the middle east for a year......A little background......my wife(5phf) came out to PA with the kids to close the deal on the house and make a few repairs prior to move in......as soon as the house was officially oursshe brought the cat over from my inlaws house.....well the day before I left IL to come here on leave the cat ran away.....no sign of her till a month later when she snuck in this afternoon......she snuck into the house and scared the pants off of us then ran out the backdoor before we could lock up and catch her...it turns out she is living at hte bottom of a real steep hill behind our property which is good because it is away from the highway.....all in all pretty nice digs for a cat.....she has a stream and a good size field to play in or whatever cats do.....Does anyone have any ideas on how to build a good HUMANE box trap for a cat......I leave for school before my transfer in a couple of days and want to at least make a good attempt to catch her before i go.....my family misses her much and all help is appreciated....thanks L5P's

After falling down by way of slipping in a shredded roll of toilet paper this morning before I could turn on the light I'm thinking a 12 Ga. with buckshot!

A cat carrier, some fishing line to slam the door and a can of tuna will solve your problem... or something like it.

Raccoon Trap

In some places, you can rent humane raccoon traps. They're big enough for a cat, just use different bait. Maybe your cat's favorite cat food?

I'd guess your cat has reacted fairly normally to being taken out of his territory and put into a strange environment. His natural instinct is to escape any new danger and try to find a territory where he is at the minimum, comfortable.

If he was a generally friendly cat before, and not too much time has elaped for him to revert to being feral, I would go down to HIS territory once or twice a day with special treats, soft words and no sudden moves. You should be able to re-estabish the trust he had in you and, over a period of time lure him back into the family.

I suggest you PM skyace4, as he's the cat-lover......better
to inquire info from him rather than me..... ;)
