Hia All,

I joined this site like 3 years ago and the experiences have both been good and bad, but definitely some memorable ones too. However, Due to some reason which concerns real life issues, I would like to delete my account, all posts, PMs, everything. Is there some way you could do that? If that's possible, please be kind enough to let me know. I have tried searching through a lot of options on the site but did not find how to delete the posts, just the PMs...... And deleting hundreds of posts manually is a tiresome job. So please let me know if u know How To.

Thanks

You can't. The best you can do is to clear your PM folders and edit all your posts with five asterisks.

You can PM Larel and ask her, but as I understand it, she will only do it VERY rare cases. As NM said, you have to go back and edit all your posts to 5 characters. Most people use periods or asterisks. It's tedious, but that's about all you can do. Just be glad you only have 225 posts! Some people with thousands of posts have had to edit all of them!

It's too bad that when people decide they don't want to remain on this site any longer and wish to have their account and all posts deleted, are not allowed to do that in an easy fashion.

Ridiculous.

RIDICULOUS.

Hardly. People should be careful about what they post online in the first place. But, the easiest way is to just delete posts that are PARTICULARLY problematic rather than everything. Delete your profile information, change your email in the profile to one you haven't checked in years and then stop logging in.

You only have 80 posts. If you're worried about it, leave now.

What you say online is public domain. Once something is out there on the internet, it's out there. Just watch what you say, and be responsible. Even if it were to be deleted, who's to say that someone hasn't already made a copy? Especially with pictures. People are right-clicking all the time on this site. If you said something dumb, you have no one to blame but yourself. Why should Laurel and Manu have to spend all their time cleaning up after stupid, irresponsible people?

Quoted for truth.

Surely you understood this when you read the rules at your initial sign up, they state it quite clearly.

Thanks for the Info people. Yes, you are right, I actually checked into the way these forums work, not just Lit and I found that there is no option for you to delete an account, very few paid forums have these options and then only because of the points you earn on them. So I guess, tedious editing it is...

Tedious it is, but the sooner you start, the faster it will be accomplished.:rose:

Surely I feel it is ridiculous not to be able to delete your account from a forum if you so choose. It's that simple.

Then why on earth would you sign up and agree to the terms? If you don't like it, don't join. Easy solution for everyone!

That's actually humorous when you think about it.

The ridiculous part is that in signing up you said you understood the terms.

You can all but delete your account in a few simple steps. blank your profile, and as someone else mentioned, change your email to one you don't check. wham, you can't get into lit anymore.

Deleting an account from any website, not just forums, is very infrequently easy. And almost never includes your posts getting deleted without you doing so manually. As quite a few have pointed out, you put those posts out in the ether, you knew they'd be there unless you deleted them yourself, or they violated the terms and the mods did.

I don't get it. Why delete all your posts?

Just walk away.

In 12 months most of these posts will be burried if not archived.....
