how to do kegel excersises

i have been aware of the kegels excersises for a few years now but never really practised them much, but now it has become something that i need to spend more time on doing on a regular basis, so on reading the instructions on how to locate them, i have been practising when peeing. this is where my problems start, im ok on the toilet stop starting peeing, i can feel what im doing and not using my tummy, bum, or thigh muscles, but once i move and stop the actual peeing and try to continue doing them say in the bedroom etc i cant tell what im doing at all and the 3 sets of muscles all start getting used, this im told is the wrong way of doing it. so my question is how do you do it without peeing
 
It just takes practice. At first you might only be able to do it while urinating. Drink a couple of glasses of water and wait until you really need to go. Then go. Stop and start three or four times each time you urinate. Eventually you'll be able to practice without urinating.

i thought the same but after 6 months of trying lik e this it still hasnt improved at all, i dont feel im being impatient now, just feel like i must be doing something wrong

Its kind of hard...but just keep working at it...one day you will just realize you can do it...i start to pee and after it really starts to come out i clench up and try to stop it...let it go...stop it...etc
 
yes ive been doing it like that for months now 6-9 in fact and once i stop peeing then i just cant feel the muscle that i should be using. surely after that amount of time and doing this everytime i pee it should have made some difference?
 
You are only meant to identify these muscles while urinating, not do them as that can cause a urinary tract infection.
I can't really give any other advice other than trying to "pull" your vagina up towards your bellybutton. You have identified the muscles, now you just have to isolate them.

esxactly what i have been told , do not continually do it this way as you end up having problems, so back to the thing of trying to isolate the pc muscle when i cant even feel it at all other than peeing!! falling short of getting the other muscles somehow dead how am i meant to do it then, as i just cant even get a slight twitch out of the pc muscle when i try
