Well I was complaining earlier today cause my 1st weekend free in ages and it was overcast skies.. but boy did I manage a heck of a sunburn anyway. I am not so much as looking for tips on suburn care as we all know the cool shower, aloe, pain reliever etc.. and actually it's not all that painful.. but boy do I look rediculous. So any tips on how to make the red fade faster??

Much of the redness from sunburn is caused by the heat/irritation of the sunburn -- anything that cools the skin or soothes the irritation will also reduce the redness.

Only time will reduce the redness that cooling doesn't take care of.

use lots of lotion. Make sure it's water based lotion and preferably something with aloe in it. Aveeno makes a really good after sun soothing lotion that will make your skin feel so good after you put it on (it won't hurt so much). Take colder showers too when you get the opportunity, and wear cotton clothing. Outside of that, all you can do is wait.

Vinegar. I got sunburnt in a tanning bed really bad one year and vinegar soothed it. You just dab it on your skin with a washcloth. Goodluck!!

Noxema...The stuff used for cleaning your face. It cools instantly. Good Luck!
R ;-) :)

Damn! I thought this thread was going to be about flogging . . . ;) :D

Seriously, though, I'm really pale and I sunburn easily. I haven't found anything, yet, that lessens the red except for time.

Vinegar will reduce the itching as well as the possibility of peeling. Nothing will reduce the redness ......except ....... TIME...... at least a week or more depending on the severity of the sunburn/

2 things

aloe gel & vinegar
also to get the heat down take a long cold shower

Now dont laugh.............LOL but Preperation H cream is the trick you want........just think it is used for imflamtion. The red usually disapears within a day or too on my overly white son............I promise it sounds crazy but works!!!

Regular tea bags... then cold wash cloths sounds stupid but works make sure u use tons of lotion or you'll look snakey

Lol sorry but from one raised by the beach, here's a tip...one will always burn more during overcast skies extra sunscreen required...

as far as red fading faster i think that depends on what kind of skin type you are....i'm a redhead and takes me a little longer than my niece who has olive complextion by the next morning her burn has gone to tan
