How to lose weight

Have you not been paying attention to her threads for the past year?

She's been given good diet/weight-loss/medical/relationship/etc. advice on the GB, but she doesn't take it to heart. I think there's a part of her that gets off on the humiliation that's doled out to her over there.

And all that, of course, is assuming she's for real.

She's fine where she is.

On the HT, people would have the common sense after this long to ignore her, rather then continue to play into exactly what she wants.

Cardio and a change in diet!! Not a diet where you starve yourself. She must change what she eats and increase intake of water. :cathappy:

Welcome to Lit.

You should understand that any attempt to give legitimate advice to the person in question is an exercise in futility. :)

Well, at least she didn't follow the good advice of NOT getting pregnant because she wanted the attention that can come with a baby!

Hey... DollParts is an attention whore. If she's bitching about her weight, take her keyboard away and she won't have anything to do but lose weight. Whatever, just don't send her to the AH, please.

Being "overweight" or "not thin" isn't a horrible thing. Women are beautiful in any size. What is bad is destructive behavior that leads to being overweight.

You would think that when one asks for advice... they would at least make an attempt to follow it or try to incorrorate it slowly into their life.

Attention seeking behavior..... I know someone on another board that she would fit well with. :)

I agree. I once responded to one of her posts and was the only person to make a genuine effort to say something helpful. Everyone else was just cutting her to ribbons as usual. So I found it odd when she pointedly ignored me, yet responded to absolutely everyone else in the thread.

I've been tempted to reply to her posts a couple times.

Its easy to lose or maintain weight. Go on a low Glycemic Index diet. Cut out all the sugars and refined flours in your diet. Start strength training. Start aerobic training.

I eat well, very well. But no sugars and now that they are gone, I don't miss them. I'm never hungry.

I do some strength training every week. Bench press, pull downs, pec deck, curls. Not a lot, but enough to build some muscle. Say 2 to 3 sessions, 30 to 45 minutes each. I watch TV while doing it.

And I get quite a bit of aerobic exercise. Roller blading, running and cycling now in the summer. I cycled 50 miles last night. I feel great. I'll rollerblade 12 miles in an hour.

The calendar says I am 39, but I feel 27.

I want to lose about another 15 pounds before winter. My abs would be ripped then.

I am never hungry. Its pretty easy to do. If I'm working and I get hungry, I snack on peanuts or cheese. Why ? Because you don't get a sugar spike and they keep me content for hours. I don't have much will power. I just adjust my diet and lifestyle to be fun AND healthy.

I used to eat sugary/processed cereals for breakfast. 9-10AM I was hungry and eating again. Now I eat a big bowl of plain oatmeal, made with milk, topped with yogurt. (1/2-2/3 cup of oatmeal before cooking in the microwave.) I can go till 2 PM without being hungry and the oatmeal has less calories than the cereal did !

Its all about keeping the blood sugar level stable.

Actually - it ISN'T always easy to lose or maintain weight.... if there are underlying problems. (speaking from the perspective of someone with a thyroid problem) Oh - there are ways around it - but it isn't easy.

What seems to be the issue with this sweetie is that she LIKES the negative reactions she is getting. Like has been pointed out - she has pointedly ignored the postive responses and responded to the negative.

Agreed. Even with my PCOS and Hypothyroidism being treated, a good diet and exercise, it's difficult for me lose; at least several times the effort of an average person.

Indeed, she feeds on negative attention, and doesn't want to get better, physically, mentally or emotionally. If she's for real, she needs to be institutionalized until she can care for herself.

Was there once a HT "support" thread of sorts for people with PCOS? Or was that an idea that was just kicked around by some folks?

I don't have PCOS (my future sister-in-law does), but judging from the number of Lit ladies who do, it would be a worthwhile thread.

Sorry for the hijack. Well, maybe not.

I know there have been questions about it, but can't recall a specific thread. Hmmm...

Poly-Cystic Ovary(ian) Syndrome, Ed. :)

Okay, I just started one for those who are interested: PCOS (though vBulletin made it 'Pcos' due to the no-all-caps-in-titles restriction  )

Lilsquirter, I was diagnosed in 1998 and have been through most of the tests and research already if you want to talk. :)

erika: that doesn't happen if you insert something in front of the acronym/abbreviation. :>
