How to stop my mouse/cursor from jumping around

I lost my patience with my jumpy cursor. I want to slam my laptop against the wall but really it's just the flipping mouse that needs treatment.

I've tried many things. It began when I had to change the batteries in the mouse. It was way too bouncy so I took out one of the new batteries and put in an older one hoping to bring it back to earth...

This isn't one of my patient days and this is really bugging me.

Just tying this zapped more patience.

I've tried the control panel mouse area and wonder if I missed something...

uninstall and then reinstall a driver???

Please help, I'd be so appreciative. One of us isn't going to make it.

Wireless mouse?

What kind of mouse is it?

Are you using a mouse pad?

Oops, sorry about the lack of info. Thanks for asking.

Wireless, logitech, yes mouse pad. I did have some issues with it (maybe when I first got it (memory's a memory at this point in life) a just over a year ago. I do remember making some kind of adjustment but am not sure just what that was. I did move the little plug in thingie into the left side port, whether that helped is no longer known.

I used to have an excellent memory -- really.

Clean the bottom of the mouse, make sure there's not any dirt etc covering the eye. Move the wireless receptor (the thing plugged into your computer) closer and see if that helps. Did your mouse come with any software?

I don't know what operating system you're using, but going to the control panel/system preferences and look for a mouse/input device icon.

From there, you should be able to get some options about enhancing pointer precision, double click resolution (how fast you need to double click the mouse to have the "double click" register with your computer), as well as cursor sensitivity.

Hopefully that will help.

I did clean the mouse and at your mention of software I went looking for it; it was a download instead. I went through the booklet instruction again and reviewed troubleshooting etc but it is still having issues. I'll give them a call when I have more time and patience.

Thank you for your help.

I am on Vista and have spent lots of time looking through the CP, still haven't located the magic button yet. I appreciate your suggestion and will keep trying.

Did the mouse software have any type of calibration modes?

*Well, of course it did, dummy* is running thru my head.

"It" did but honestly I am not confident that what I downloaded was correct, I had choices and that was not a good thing for me, (that lack of patience thing) so I d/l both options ('setpoint' something or other and the other was 'logitech untility communication' something)(real technical I know but...). Not sure my mouse is as advanced as it thinks it is. ; )

I feel like Scarlet O'Hara but tomorrow will be better, I just know it (even though it's already tomorrow now). You're very kind to hang in on this.:rose:

Can you give me the type of mouse it is? I can look up some info on it for you.

And it's not a problem, I like helping out.

It may be an issue with some form of wireless blocking the bluetooth signal. Do a quick google and you will get alot of info on it. Using either a wireless keyboard or mouse at work simply won't work for me. Took it home and had issues there also. Then I unplugged my phone. I know this shouldn't make a hill of beans difference, but the issues went away immediately. The phone was more important so I gave the bluetooth shit away.

Thank you, you're very nice.

I have a logitech v450 nano (at least for the moment). I thought it was just new batteries having a party but it's more than that.

I was going to uninstall the driver and reinstall but I figured I'd make it worse. I am quite frustrated as it makes it difficult to write to say the least.

Please don't go to too much trouble, I appreciate your time and efforts.

Hmm, that is interesting. I don't have any other wireless stuff here but I live in a condo (old and thin walls), so maybe a neighbor got something that might be interfering. Thanks for the idea, I'll check around.

This probably isn't it because it's fairly obvious but just putting it out there... if it's a laser mouse and the mouse pad has a reflective surface that will cause it to do weird things as it reflects the beam.

I didn't know that, thanks for taking the time to mention it, hm. :rose:

Much like when you bring your car in for some such thing and when you get there the problem isn't there...I'll be bold and say I think I fixed it! I uninstalled what I did last night and this afternoon uninstalled the driver and installed a new one. Gee, don't I sound like I know what I'm talking about? Whatever I did all seems right at the moment --I probably should be whispering in case the cursor gods are listening.

Ah who cares about them... I fixed it!!!!!!
