How We Grieve Defines Us

Lavy

You know I've always respected you, and you've never led me to think otherwise.

This just reinforces it.

Grace and composure

Love, dont hate

Live, dont die

Hanging on in quiet desperation is NOT the American way

Get with it, get through it, get over it, get past it.

I haven't grieved yet so I guess I'll remain without definition.

Denial and isolation... briefly.
Anger... quiet and lingering.
Bargaining & depression... I sort of glanced over this stage.
Acceptance... I'm there.

Great post, Lavender. I've admired your cool head during all of this.

I feel things deeply, and I can't even begin to describe the emotional rollercoaster of the past few days, even though outwardly, I try to remain calm, rational, and level-headed. Try - not always succeed, but try. ;)

I haven't shed a lot of tears, not because I don't feel anything, but I'm just not a crier. Where I start to lose it, though - where the tears start to come, is when I see pictures of the two towers, standing intact and lovely on a clear Autumn morning without a cloud or plane in the sky.

I want that back so much.

It isn't just the buildings, it's the safety, the carefree days when we were all merrily ripping each other to shreds over budgets and tax proposals. I want our peace. I want our innocence.

That's where I start to lose it, and I'm getting teary-eyed just reflecting on it. I'm hovering around bargaining and depression. I was thinking earlier : if I had to die today, and my death would make all of this simply never have happened, I wouldn't think twice about doing it, no matter how slow or painful.

Macabre, even for me. :)

Excellent post, Lavender.
