Husband planning to leave?

Looking for a story - shrew wife believes husband is planning to leave her because he starts doing things she used to do for him, i.e. cooking, laundry, sewing a button on his shirt, etc. She sees a counselor to discuss her concerns. Husband explains to counselor that he and his daughter/son were fed up with his wife's nagging and anger so he was learning to live without her.

The wife wasn't overly angry or shrewish in that one; more that she was a bit selfish and both parties had a ton of unresolved communication issues. And their children were only peripherally involved. But the rest of your description seems to fit.
