It reminds me of a time, on a different platform, when I explained that the “6 million” holocaust number is incorrect. This is easily demonstrated by the official website for Auschwitz.

Well given there were 23 main extermination camps with a total of 900 subcamps in the German Concentration camp systems ,determining how many people and of what religion or ethnicity who were killed is not easy. Germany did keep excellent records, but starting in late 1943 they began to destroy those records. If you used Auschwitz's numbers only you'd come up very short indeed. Were you trying to be obnoxious, or just don't know about the other 22 camps?

Jews were furious! Anyone else, hearing that a couple million fewer of their own people were killed… would be happy.

No surprise you'd try and trivialise something like this. Approximately 15 million people died in these camps, of those 6 million are estimated to be Jewish. But hey, you dug through those thousands of records and did all the cross referencing to check your numbers, right?
