I’m so old I remember…

My opinion only

M.A.S.H. is very over-rated.

I know, I know.

I understand the cultural impact and all of that, I just think that the acting sucked.
I'm way too young to have caught MASH in it's original release. So I did not see any of the cultural impact. But for what it is, I think the show as a whole is very good. I'm no acting critic, so can't comment on that. But I feel like the composition and flow, and general freshness was good.

MASH was the first film where multiple conversations took place at the same time. Ground breaking.

Hell, I watched first run, first aired episodes of Combat!, Twilight Zone, Star Trek (before any letters added afterwards), Mission Impossible, Get Smart!, Gunsmoke and soooooo many others now considered classics.

I don't remember seeing "Beer Vending Machines".

I do miss those "Old School Style" Pepsi Vending Machines though.
Wasn't sure your age/location.

My dad was USN from '77 - 80/81 in the South Pacific/Africa. He said a lot of the lounges would have beer machines along one wall and cigarette machines along the other wall with the dance floor in the middle.

It did quite a few "firsts".
Still holds some records as well.
I understand the impact it had on the culture and it still applies today.
I just didn't think it was all that good.
Hell, I think Alan Alda's best performance in his career was in "The West Wing".

I believe that they were probably out there, it's just that I didn't personally see any.

I liked it, but then I liked Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Those OLD "Twilight Zone" shows are FRAKKING AWESOME!!!
I think "Star Trek" is more over-rated than M.A.S.H. and I'm a sci-fi nutjob.
Same thing applies. I understand the cultural and societal impact of the show, and can appreciate all of that.
I still watch "Gunsmoke" from time to time.
Never got into "Get Smart".

I agree about Star Trek... I enjoyed the movies more than the show.

ST would have been better without Mr. StopMotionSpeak.

TZ is still some of the best written television there ever was.

Outer Limits, yes was a copycat!, But it did have some really freaky episodes !

I remember getting Mr. Peabody and Shermon Drinking GLASSES made of real glass, from Burger Kine/McDonalds and sitting outside at a picnic table and eating my food.

I also had Sylvester, Tweety, Fred Flintstone, Barney Rubble, George Jetson glasses. they were like 35 cents apiece. That wa more than a candy bar

i remember 8 inch floppy disks.
my brother had an 8 track player in his car and we listed to Teddy Bear by Red Sovine.

Fuck I miss the old days.

Star Trek is tricky. At its best it was quite good, but there was some pretty awful stuff as well. It was as a concept (compared to previous sci fi media) pretty break through.
