I’m so old I remember…

The current entrance is far different now, but this was the original view of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland when it opened in 1967. When I was a kid before it opened, they had large sliding barn doors covering the entrance and nobody knew what the doors were hiding. When we were there, I man came out from behind the doors and asked if we'd like to try out a new ride. I remember there being another group of three joining us. We got into the boat and there was a man in hip-waders walking along with us in the water. The track was slightly misaligned and we got stuck on the tracks, but the man pulled out a tool and adjusted things and pushed us back about 10 feet and let go. Over the course of the trial, we got stuck about 4 times - including right at the point where the ghost says, "Dead men tell no tales!"

Once we got back to the station, they asked if we wanted to try it again. There were no stops that time, so when we got back again they didn't even slow us down. They said, "Let's do a last one." So we went a third time around. It finally opened about a month later.

One last thing - the original ride simulated cannon balls hitting the walls of the fort and parts of the walls crumbling down into the water. Once the ride boat passed, the crumbles were pulled up by lines and made the fort look intact again. I always thought that looked pretty cool.

Cool.. I remember their carrier bags more for some strange reason..

No but I've heard of Templeton's 👍

Also remember Kwik Save and Safeway 🙈

I believe it was Templetons before Prestos. Might be wrong though. Found your message very funny and could relate to it 😂

I wonder what you did with those carrier bags 🙈 I remember playing strip poker with friends and cutting holes for my legs in one of those bags to hide my modesty 😂

Maybe it’s a mood wanting her trapped in there, but pantyhose. I remember and miss pantyhose. Had to be carful not to cause a run in them and when she couldn’t take it any more and they came off. Can’t remember the last time I saw someone wearing pantyhose now. I’d stare if is did.
