Yes it is true. It is an inane and silly thread. Mindless. Telly-tubbyesque. It began as a mistake and snowballed from there. Now it is a steamroller with no brake, chugging along till it runs out of gas.

How do I kill it?

Simple. No one posts... it dies. I wouldn't worry about that though some people obviously like the thread. I'd just tell them to fuck off and don't open it if it bothers them that much.

but... sleep with a bar of soap at the foot of your bed under the sheets, my friend told me to and it worked

If nightmares are the problem sleep with a mini bible under your pillow.
