Daffy, Porky, Foghorn, Pepe, Sylvester and Tweety, Taz, Elmer, et al were the best. I still watch 'em today some 30 years later!

But let's not forget the other great shows The Flintstones and The Jetsons.

Yesterday on good ol' BBC2 there was a program called I love 1984 (the "love" part was a heart, but I can't figure out a way to do that). They've been working from at least 1970 (shown early last year). They showed, amongst other things, "Transformers". You remember they changed from cars, planes, and more impressively, handguns and tape recorders, into 20 foot tall robots.

They were every bit as bad in terms of hype as Pokemon. I remember that I wanted a few even. Although somehow, even that animation was better than Pokemon's, they could walk and talk at the same time. But there are more recent cartoons that I miss, "the Tick" anyone?

one thing you have to realise about bugs and the whole looney tunes/merry melodies gang, is that the majority of them were written for adults. the older we got, the more we got out of them. such as elmer's psychiatrist, dr. miltown. when i found out that miltown was the pharmaceutical company that made seconal, i laughed my ass off for days! of course, i was on drugs then...smiles
rocky and bullwinkle rocked for the same reason, and george of the jungle had two wives, a fact that was forgotten in the movie.
as for the turtles, i love them...although they were much better in black and white when the comic book was introduced.
perhaps when the tiny toons start going through puberty...

I'm absolutely convinced that believing the older cartoons were better is not just nostalga. I thought the WB, Loony Tunes and Disney cartoons were fantastic when I was growing up, now my son lives for Dragon Ball, Pokemon and Digimon. Sorry if this comes accross racist, it's not meant to, but I Loath these Japaneese cartoons.

My fav cartoon character is without a doubt the Dark Knight, the WB version around at the moment is very good, obviously not a patch on a commic book, but definatley one of my picks.

Just seems to me that cartoonist aren't putting the effort they used to into these new toons. grr yes I am a guy and yes I am 20 so maybe I am just too old to be watching toons grrr ah well I am done. *rolls over and goes back to sleep*
