Right. One of the first things I noticed when I joined here was this:

I pay relatively little attention to stats (other than the Every Author's one - why didn't my latest effort do so well?) but the piece that would be of most interest is the reverse of this - what other stories are the ones linking to (similar) mine?a list of all the similar stories for your stories
It's something the site could provide easily. Otherwise, you'd have to get the similar stories list from every single story on the site.I pay relatively little attention to stats (other than the Every Author's one - why didn't my latest effort do so well?) but the piece that would be of most interest is the reverse of this - what other stories are the ones linking to (similar) mine?
I have no idea how one could determine this reverse linking business. (A script called Salmon?)
While this thread has been running, I've prepared four stories for the Valentine's Day contest, been reviewing in an 80,000-word anthology for the market that has been edited and returned from the publisher for last review and reviewing in a 35,000-word novella about ready to submit to the publisher. And you, since you brought this up, what have you been doing other than posting to the thread? You have dropped right many posts to this thread yourself, starting before any of mine and going on after I had stopped.I like that somebody who says that it's a waste of time to even think about numbers (Which I only do like once a month when I put all my CSVs together into my master tracking document.) has been avidly replying on here over and over and over again, thus wasting more time in 1 day than I "waste" in a month worrying about my "useless" numbers.
But you recognize, right...The topic sentence IS supposed to bottom line the discussion.
Humans gonna humanit doesn't always happen that way!
Doing quite well in back biting. But you recognize, right...
You admit? You concede? You consider? You understand?
That it doesn't always happen that way!
So, knowing this, you elect to opt out of reading beyond the first line, then blame the poster when they point out that you missed what they wrote.
How am I doing?
Here's the pattern. Comes into a thread and starts being rude and insulting people, often doesn't quote them, but we know who he's speaking to. Then when people respond to the snark with their own, he will eventually start crying victim and everyone is picking on him. In the meantime he tries to make the entire thread about him. If given enough time we're then all told we're jealous of all his make believe accomplishments and start talking about "mainstream writing" even though we're talking literotica. But you recognize, right...

Keith, I admit it, you're better than me in all ways. I only have 50 stories and under this KeithD alias alone you have vastly more, more views, and higher ratings than I do. Not even counting the 3 to 5 alias which you are writing countless other stories on. I'm shit on the heel of somebody who saw you from a distant, not even shit on your heel. I'm a lump of rough stone in a cold forgotten forest while you are the shining granite at the center of civilization. Your light shines with the fire of galaxies, I'm dim as a match in a raging storm. You are the one standing high on a stage with accolades of your fans washing over you like sunshine, I am simply a tired old man on a quiet train on his way home from meaningless work. While this thread has been running, I've prepared four stories for the Valentine's Day contest, been reviewing in an 80,000-word anthology for the market that has been edited and returned from the publisher for last review and reviewing in a 35,000-word novella about ready to submit to the publisher. Oh, and I forgot. I reviewed and set up my weekly story submission for the coming Sunday as well.
Just know this....for someone so superiorKeith, I admit it, you're better than me in all ways. We good now? We all know our places in this world?
The good thing is I've got no ego that needs propping up. Do I like praising comments and good ratings? Oh yes! Did trolls back in the day destroy the hope that I would one day become a professional author? Yup. But I write and I'm aware that I'm not the best, I don't need others to think I am, I'd just like the same respect that I give to everyone else, given back to me.Just know this....for someone so superior
He was caught using the KeithD handle to fluff himself on his SRPLT stories. Going on and on about what an amazing author SR was...if he did say so himself, which he did.
No surprise considering back around 2014 he was caught alting(his other one 4Glory6) telling everyone in the thread how great an SRPLT story was.
Also, and I would never take this shot at anyone but him here. Imagine writing in one category for 16 years well over 1k stories, and still barely getting a handful of favs and comments.
These are the things a person who runs around here touting his greatness and belittling everyone else has 'accomplished" in his time here.
Question for the class, would anyone with any level of actual success in the real world stoop to doing such things? Would they need to impress people on a free writing site?
There's someone here who has had multiple legit book deals, and rarely ever talks about it and takes nothing here seriously. The difference between someone who has done it, and someone who's telling more stories than they have in their file
The numbers are not the priority for me. Yeah, I've got a couple LW stories that are done and I've not posted because I don't want that right now. But for me it's just a curiosity. When I used to go to movies I'd follow the Box Office numbers for it, just to see how good or bad it did based on what I thought of it. If I was chasing numbers everything I would write would be I/T and Mom/Son I/T at that. I'm literally incapable of writing anything but what grabs my brain and puts my fingers to the keyboard. Numbers have no meaning when it comes to that, whatever that magic is, it's not up to me. The nerd in me does wonder why some stories hit and others don't, that's why I started tracking because I wondered if it was the day, the time of year, or just... random. I'm pretty sure it's just random but maybe someday another numbers nerd will come around and want to see my spreadsheet (giggity) and it might give them some clarity into things that it doesn't me.Speaks volumes to what the priority is here, and its not the story itself its the numbers.
Sad.
