Yup, I've heard of it. In fact, I've been subject to it. Let me tell ya, for such a novel idea, it really works! A lot of families could really benefit from this. They should try it.

Personally, I think it needs to be 'rediscovered' by alot of people. Not that parenting is easy, I can testify to that, but somewhere down the line "those people" decided that all kids need to be coddled 24/7, outside is an unsafe and evil place and ridalin cures everything.

Admittedly, my kid's not old enough to lock himself in a room with anything, but I've already told my wife, the day he locks me out is the day I'll take the door off its hinges....

My dad has done just that several times already. Of course, he put the door back on later. He has a nasty temper, and I used to invoke it when I was much younger, well before I became a teen. He still has a bit of a temper, but it could more easily be called a "mood" now. And just to let you know, he doesn't drink, or smoke, or anything else. He was a Marine back in Vietnam (he didn't serve out in the field) and has only just recently retired from maybe 30 years of being a certified police officer.

*Smiles* My parents were similar but they spanked my ass when i was out of control and I thank them for it every damn day. It made me remember that when i did something bad I was gonna get punished, I loved to be grounded I could just sit in my room and read, and I hated gettting spanked so I would stop doing things they didn't like.

My brother hated being grounded and preferred the spankings lol... go figure...

This is, for the most part, directly copied from the original list. Like the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The first ten are blaster8's work, the rest is mine (done in the spirit of blaster8 ). Again, the asteriks indicate those who are in the Vale currently.
