I'm back! And I brought pictures!

This is Lake Muncho, in northern BC. Notice the green color of the water. It's due to copper oxide found in the water. I thought the storm made a nice foil for the colors.

*surreptitiously sets out tips jar*

:)

Miles and miles and miles of this kind of scenery, folks.

This is what made it so difficult to come back.

:(

I loved the shape of the Northwest Territories license plates. I wish we'd do something fun like this in the U.S.

:)

(Oops, I forgot one of my Alaska pics. I'll show this one, then go back to the BC pics.)

I wish I could say I saw this one in the wild, but I didn't. I saw her/him in the zoo in Anchorage.

Hey you in the back! Wake up! I'm almost done. :)

Notice the hazy appearance of the sky. There were hundreds of forest fires in BC during the time I drove through it. :( At times the smoke was so thick, visibility was cut to 100 feet.

The scene below, however, is another of my favorites.

Last, but not least...

This is the Cassiar "Highway." And yes, portions of it were dirt road. Some of it was due to construction, others ... well, that's just the way it is. It even marks "dirt road" on the map.

Absolutely beautiful though, and a peaceful drive.

All in all it took me 5 days and 4 nights with an average of 10-12 hours of driving each day to get from Anchorage to where I live in Idaho. I don't regret a bit of it.

Just for you, a variation on the same scene:

I have this almost irresistable urge to blow that one up real big and decoupage it over the glass in my bedroom window. :D

:) Actually, that's a great idea!

Eyup Mack,

Nice scenery, nice photography. Explain again, why did you come back?

Have you ever noticed with some photographs, if they were paintings they wouldn't be realistic.

Are you sure you were in alaska and not Oz?

Welcome back.

Well you see, there was this man in the lower 48 I desperately wanted to see.... ;)

Thanks for your kinds words, it's good to be back.

Edited to add: "Lower 48" refers to the 48 contiguous states in the U.S. which lie south of Alaska (with Canada inbetween.) Hawaii and Alaska are the two who are not part of the contiguous U.S. Just thought I'd toss that in there for anyone who didn't understand the terminology.

Funny you say that Gauche.

I was looking at some of the pics thinking it looks exactly like where I live.

Especially the snow ones (at the moment anyway LOL)

Nice pics Mck.

Greetings fellow AH-ers!

I think I'm done traveling for the summer, (for the most part!)

Alaska was nice, but not what I expected. British Columbia and the Yukon Territory were amazing! I definitely want to make it back there.

Anyways, pull up a chair and get ready for the picture show. Popcorn is available, and the fridge is stocked with all kinds of delectables!

First picture was taken in southern BC.

Beautiful. How many bears would you rate BC?

I've missed you to P., and this place. Kinda funny how something grows on you like this forum, eh?

One of my favorite pictures here, just something random that caught my eye while driving down the highway.

Oh God. I can smell the air in this one. It's cold and it smells like rain and pine.

BC has to be a 10 Bear province, at least.

:D
