Happy Independence day America.

It was on this day in history that a group of ordinary slave-owning aristocrats took a stand and decided that no longer shall they pay tax!
It brings a tear to the eye.

Slave-owning aristocrats in racist cosplay.

Get your facts straight.

God damn they'd be so pissed and I love it.

July 4,1976.

The two hundredth year of our great country I at this time 11:26 AM CST had another thirty minutes or so of walking Picket as I was out on strike.

I can look out my window to my left and see the only tree I planted that day.

It is now a HUGE Red Oak that people said that it, much like our country would never make it.

The odds were against it But with before and after thought and care it did survive and is doing well.

What were you doing?

Did y'all get what you were striking for?

Did y'all get what you were striking for?

Ha!

No we did not!

Basically we ended up with the percentages for the two years in question turned around and gave up the shop proposal that was a major reason for the strike to start with.

It was a six month strike. I voted not to strike because I thought the company's offer was ... other than the proposal a good one.

But behind the scenes the younger bunch of union workers wanted to go work on pipe lines and such things that were booming at the time for much more money. the strike basically went from end of winter to the start of autumn.

They came back and voted to accept the contract. Hell I was broker than broke mad and ready to strike for as long as necessary. I had been cussed at. Had bottles and rocks thrown at me...some assholes tried to run me down.

Had some tits flashed at me, walked through one of the worse thunderstorms complete with hail and lightening I have ever experienced.

Carrying a stupid ass umbrella with IAM & CIO printed on it so we could not stop or put it down. Got a lot closer to God that day! But at least I was not one of the ones that was shot at!

And had we stayed out another couple of weeks probably would have got almost anything we asked for if it had been possible. But winter came early up north so those SOB's that voted us out came home and voted us back in.

I was married During the Strike and that did not make thing easier either! took another six months to catch up paying all the bills.

Being a Union member is not for Pussies for damned sure!

Jesus dude, that is bullshit.

Jesus dude, that is bullshit.

Sometimes!

AND you have to pay for the privilege!

No, there is no winning by having a strike. I dare say in the forty three years are so I am sure I have not made up for the money I lost for that time.

But without representation and bargaining as a group I have NO doubt I would be making about half of what I am now with far less benefits.

And the salaried people would really be screwed!

Somebody has to do the hard shit in life...sometimes it is me.

i had g&t's that i double poured on, shrimp with cocktail sauce that has so much horseradish that it makes your eyes water and chicken flavored crackers. fuck, what more can you ask for?
