I'd like to remember the ones in my life that have survived. My close circle has been spared from death, but sadly violance is no stranger to me.
I'd like to remember those friends of mine, who have been muggled, raped, beaten, subjected to domestic violance, subjected to violance because of abuse of drugs and alcohol and especially those who have been abused as children.
I'd also like to express my anger and sadness for eight (8) female friends of mine who were raped but never got the chance to prosecute the rapist. Two of them didn't know who raped them, they were drunk at the time and were too embarrassed to tell their family. Both of them attempted suicide later on. The remaining six weren't so lucky. Three of them were hushed down by their families, being told that they had already brought enough shame on the family and needn't not go public with it.
Two of them just felt it was useless, because in the area where we live court justice is far from just. In six months the court eased a rapist's conviction remarkebly and outrageously, because he was married and he had a job.
I'm writing this to remember these people dear to me. I wish to respect the strenght they have had to carry on and to be grateful of the blessing they had with them to survive alive. These incidents have taught me to see hope where there seems to be none and find strenght in things that should take it all away.
Brightest blessings to you all.
