In Search Of…

"I've never actually been to china, so I can't say what they use there, but the buffets I've been to in America, I'm pretty sure have to live up to a certain standard of quality and safety or they get shut down right quickly. The ones I've gone to have been around for years, so I'm pretty sure they are safe."

Taking Aart's hand, Jacen held it for a moment, the smooth warmth of her hand felt silken, like flower petals. Releasing her hand, he took a in a long slow breath to clear his head. At the mention of one of the Friday the 13th flicks, his eye lit up a little. "Thankfully no, the way my name is spelled, it's actually a reference to a star wars character, in the books Leia and Han have a son they name Jacen, yeah, my parents are nerds too... I never cared too much for Jason Vorhees myself, the whole 'silent menace' horror trope never really thrilled me, but I do like horror movies in general."

"Do you like any horror movies? They are great for cuddling. I prefer the spooky, supernatural ones to all of these 'torture porn' flicks that seem to have taken over the genre."

He paused, knowing he could really nerd out on her over pop culture if he wasn't careful. "Spiced lobster, sounds good, maybe if you know of a place we could go there sometime before my vacation ends. Or a good Rotis joint?"

"Aarti..." Jacen repeated, as if tasting her name, careful to pronounce it as closely as he could but his American accent probably got in the way a bit. "A name as beautiful as your smile."

“Ohhhh, I thought you had eaten Chinese food in China.
Rats and all…
Hhehheheheh.”
I giggle softly as Jacen holds my hand.
“I do not like Star Wars or any of those movies.
I also detest horror films.
I like Romantic Films and action packed and suspense films.
Let us eat here for tonight, instead of hopping places.
What say?”
I call the bar tender and say,
“Another rum and coke please?”
I smile at you.
“Hahhaahah, what do you find so beautiful in my smile and name?”

"I'm not quite that much of a globe trotter, but I do like to try new foods whenever I can. Chinese is probably the easiest to find, just about anywhere in America... Rats and all. Indian food isn't quite as easy to find, at least where I live."

"Alright, so something more like Speed, the movie about the bus full of passengers that had to stay above fifty five miles per hour or it would blow up?"

"Of course, I meant trying out other places another time, not tonight."

"Well, I know its a worship ritual and a song meaning toward the highest love of god, but I think it means personal enlightenment as well. So I can only imagine that kissing those lips that bare your goddess like smile would be a little taste of heaven."

Jacen parts his lips as time seems to slow down. He looks back into her eyes while she continues to smile, her soft, dusky pink lips like a crescent moon, her eyes like deep stars, drawing him in. "One can dream of heaven... but to taste..." he leaned slowly toward her tilting his head slightly,

Jacen sighs and shrugs as she walks away. He turns to the bar tender and orders a meal to go, doubting she will be back, but asks him to bring her one too, if she does. While he waits for his food, he goes over to the jukebox in the corner and picks a few familiar songs.

When the food was ready, Jacen paid, sent a meal down to aarti and took his meal to go. He left without a word.

I wonder why in the world the guy left. I shrug in disgust. I think, perhaps it was not a good idea to come to the club. I tell the bar tender to take the food away as I do not feel like having it. I order a rum and coke and sit alone at the bar.

Light music starts to play in the bar.
I smile, loving this tune.
I look around.
Till now, all the guys have been boring idiots!
With inflated male egos!
