Insomnia

A monkey is sitting in a tree smoking a joint when a lizard walks up to him. The lizard looks up and asks the monkey “Hey, man. Whatcha doing?”

The monkey says, “I think someone sold me some bullshit weed.”

So the lizard sits next to the monkey and says, “pass it to me. I’ll tell you if it’s good weed or not.”

After a while the lizard says his mouth is ‘dry’, and that he’s going to get a drink from the river.

The monkey says, “I knew it! If it was good weed, you’d be hungry, not thirsty.”

Anyway, the lizard runs down the tree, across the ground to the river and falls face first in the water.

A Crocodile swims over to the lizard and says,” Hey, man, watcha doing?”

The lizard raises his head and says, “See that fucking monkey in that tree? He’s got some killer weed.”

The Crocodile says, “I’ll be the judge of that.”

The Crocodile crawls out of the water, walks over to the tree where the monkey is, looks up at him and says, “Hey, is that weed any fucking good?”

The Monkey looks down at the Crocodile, squints his eyes, drops the joint and says “FUUUUUCK, DUDE. Were you thirsty or what?”

Insomnia is not fun. I had a bout of it a few years back. I went to bed but did not fall asleep. I thought I'd feel exhausted by the next morning but I didn't experience that either. Went through the whole day waiting for that moment when I'd collapse. Felt "strange" by around 10:30 pm. Went to bed again and just stared at the ceiling. By 1:30am I was noticeably unnerved that I hadn't passed out yet.

Finally managed to doze off around 3:45am. Ended up sleeping 'til noon...then everything went back to normal.

A bloated, weak effort by King. It expands his universe in a few ways that are not insignificant but not reading won't hurt you any.

Also, it sucks if you can't sleep.

Insomnia is not my friend but over the years it and I have come to some sort of an understanding.

I used to fret and hate going to bed.

Now I approach it with as many natural remedies as I can and use meditation, relaxation and listen to talk back on my sonos all night.

If I can sleep for an hour or more at a time then it is a very good night.

I keep insomnia.

I've been trying to write of a night. Got the first daft of a fantasy trilogy that's probably horrible.

I have meds I can take for it, but they knock me out, dead to the world, for eight hours, so if I have anywhere I need to be I can't take them, because I'll sleep right through the alarm. A plane crashed behind my house, like on my property, about two years ago, and I fucking slept through it. There were cops and firefighters and all kinds of people here, talking to my family, to get on the land and stuff, and I slept right through it.

I woke up and everybody was like, "So there was a plane crash like right over there. Go look, there's still a wrecked plane, but they got the corpse out."

So like... I try not to take it.
