How many of us are insomniacs? Seems to me that quite a few...

Are we staying up all night planning on how best to use a whip, or how best to be whipped? Is it a medical condition? Or are we just all insane?

I have trouble sleeping...but it could be that i am insane...let me take a vote from the rest of me and i will be back with the verdict.

4 Ayes

4 nays

we are undecided...get back to me when You have an answer!!!!:rose:

Ok, I voted that I sleep normally, since there wasn't an "other" option.

Most nights I do sleep rather normal, but the "the cycle" hits me again and I don't sleep very well at all. By "the cycle" I mean the times when I can't shut my brain off for anything much less sleep.

Now, I've said all that, but here's a little more clarification... My Master is in the Army as a lot of people here already know, and currently he is deployed. I go thru cycles of sleep patterns, I'll start out sleeping ok, but then get to where I don't, then back again. It is very frustrating at times, but this too shall pass I'm sure.

Seldom sleep...

I borderline insomnia... only because when I finally do get to sleep... I can sleep for 2 days straight... I just think its a habit from college. Stay up from 11am -6am ... every weekday... sleep all weekend (day) then party etc... ::shrug:: anywho, thats me.

I've always had a hard time getting to sleep, even as a child. Not really sure why, other then I tend to worry more at night.

I have a 2 year old, so that rules out sleep during the day.

I'm going back to teaching in a few days. At that point I will probably be too exhausted to keep my eyes open past midnight.

I sleep in bits and starts.

I have had a few restful nights lately, but generally sleep about two hours at a clip.

argh.

I do feel rested, though.

:)

^ I sleep about 2-3 hours at a clip. It's difficult for me to fall asleep, so I tend to go for long hours awake, sleep a few, long hours awake, sleep a few....... it works for me, but I do wish sometimes I could get like 12 hours straight.

I seldom sleep...

I still miss her so much, that i seldom sleep, and end up crying myself to sleep.

Yeah, sorry. I did think of the "mostly normal, but bouts of insomnia" option after I submitted the poll, but it turns out only moderators can edit a poll.

where's my "other"?

i sleep irregularly. sometimes i'm awake for five hours, then asleep for three, then up for 20, then asleep for ten, then up for twelve, then asleep for four -- i just don't have a normal pattern...

I haven posted about the fact I sleep very little. However, I am an old lady and need very little sleep. LOL

Mostly normally. Very odd hours, and sometimes I want to stay up far too long. I have to make myself go to bed and sleep. I work mid-shift (3pm to 11pm). On my days off I tend to sleep more than I should and stay up later than I should. I try NOT to let my sleep get out of whack when I'm off.

Sleep is important to me. If I get out of my regular sleeping pattern I feel weird and unhealthy.

That's ok darlin. ;)

Don't ya just hate when that happens......lol

I have some sleeping problems, mainly because my natural sleep hours are 4 AM to noon. I workout to wear myself and force myself to try to get at least six.

Same boat here. Damn normal work week. What's wrong with working 12-8 instead of 9-5?

I have a seizure disorder that kicks in when I hit REM sleep and wakes me up, takes 30 mintues to an hour to get back to sleep ..... rinse repeat. Normally I get to sleep good somewhere around 4 and up by 6.

I do the normal sleep/insomnia cycle. Normal sleep for a while, three or four weeks when I get none. Dates back to the nightmares in high school; they were so bad that on nights when they came, I didn't go back to sleep. Now I do that with out the nightmares, some nights I just cannot sleep, and I've tried herbals, sleeping pills, meditation, relaxation, prayer...... Everything but alcahol, because drinking til I'm passed out for weeks on end just seems like a bad idea.

speak of the devil..last night was a bad one. went to sleep about 1 am and was up by 4:30 with a few breaks inbetween. UGH.

I had an almost identical experience. Hopefully that means I'll sleep well tonight.

I voted "I'm hardly ever awake" because lately that's how I feel ... sleepy all the time!

My shifts change daily. Some 8 hours, some 12 hours, begin work at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm or 11 pm. Totally screwy!

One thing is certain. I always wake up between 3 and 4 ... doesn't matter if its am or pm. And doesn't matter if I went to sleep at 8 or 1 (again am or pm). Sometimes I get back to sleep, sometimes not.

Sex used to be my sleep aid. Now that I'm single and dating sex isn't quite so regular. And I can't stay with him overnight nor do I want him staying with me. So I get re-wired driving home, or pushing him out my front door.

Summer has been crazy. I can't wait for the kids to go back to school so we all have a reason to wake up like normal people.

I sleep much better with my sub in my bed, than without. It was one of the things that let me know that she was something special. When I am alone, or with most anyone else, I sleep very poorly.
