Is anyone else helping someone with a degenerative illness?

I got to spend the day with my husband and his treatment team. They’re changing his meds, and he’s officially been classified as Huntingtons disease stage 3.. or maybe it’s Stage 3 Huntingtons.

It’s breaking my heart watching him struggle.
So sorry Scarlett this thread just grabbed me

I lived with and cared for my mother as she went through dementia complete death of corpus collosum (big body) in the center of the brain. Tragedy is just that. I can empathize. And I do.

I was a caregiver for my dad as he battled Alzheimer’s, it was a struggle at times, but now that he is gone. I cherish those moments and memories that I got to have with him.

Keep your chin up, and there are those who know the way you feel.

Always here to chat, or rant, or even vent if you need it.

I will just drop a dime ( short for dimented) my mom had dementia and brain death of whole center part of her brain. Knew me til the day she passed on but I had spent years being accused of theft and hiding her T.V. remote and things being thrown at me

A healthcare worker I saw for a decade was a caregiver for an in-law after a stroke. Several relatives worked in shifts. The last time I saw him, he was asleep on a table when I walked in. Between caregiving and his career, he was always tired. He looked tired. The next time I went there, he had a for sale sign on the building. Years later, I searched for his name and found an arrest report with a mugshot. He was arrested for assault. He still looked tired, and also sad.

Wife is a stage 4 lung cancer patient with spread to her bones, liver, and brain. Awful doesn't describe it. Now having family members visit. Not long before it ends.
