Is Internet A Luxury Or A Necessity?

Many people rely on it for phone service these days which is obviously a necessity.

In the UK, they are switching off analogue phone lines, so all landlines will be provided on VOIP so Internet is a must

At the beginning of the petroleum industry, gasoline was a waste product, usually dumped in the nearest river, swamp, or ocean. Automobiles were invented and gasoline became a necessity. Some other waste chemicals became plastics so refineries could sell the last bit of leftovers instead of paying for toxic waste disposal. Now plastics are in everything, including our bodies. With enormous quantities of electricity available, the internet took a huge slice of the excess. Petrochemical and electricity production will decrease. The internet is losing its attractiveness as it becomes more controlled and consolidated. In its final decades of decline, it may return to its original condition of mostly email, military communication, and not much else, and then be disconnected.

Someone who reads only the Lit PB and similar sites might wonder is the internet an expression of mental illness or the cause.

The problem with things you read on the Internet is you never know if they're true or not.

-- Abraham Lincoln

The Internet is now a necessity, even for the poor, because public education relies on it, as do many public services, the department of motor vehicles in many states, Social Security offices…

Trying to claim this is not a political issue is myopic.

Most modes of transportation now either rely on it or at least make it very difficult to operate without it.

With a few keystrokes I can see Japanese teens doing anal. How is that not a necessity?
