Is there a way to reach a wider audience on Literotica?

Something to keep in mind about Bluesky v. Twitter/X, at least for now. I just signed up for a Bluesky account to see how it goes. Right now Literotica's Bluesky account has 182 followers. Its Twitter/X account has over 20,000 followers. That's over 100 times as much.

Literotica has had a Bluesky account for a few days. The Twitter account was created in 2009.

All I can tell you is my own experience. In a couple of weeks, I have more than twice as many Bluesky followers as I had on Twitter after seven years. I have posted story links at both sites. I am getting more engagement in response on Bluesky.

Maybe the detractors are right, and it will all go bust or they'll suddenly purge erotica. If it does, though, I'll still have gotten the new readers I am acquiring now.

Look me up over there. Same username.

True, but Literotica's most recent tweet has only 18 total likes.

That's a 0.0009:1 like-to-follower ratio.

Almost every account on Twitter has a vast amount more followers than it garners actual interactions or impressions. It's been like that for years because of bots, dormant accounts, etc. The follower counts mean very little, practically speaking.

So, one of the most popular categories on Literotica is "Erotic Couplings".

Obviously, the best way to attract more readers is to write a good story. I realize that the titles and descriptions of stories are also very crucial.

My latest post (specifically, in "Erotic Couplings") is entitled "Jailbait: My Daughter's Sexy BFF", and has a "Hot" rating so far. I've gotten some good feedback, and I'm very happy.

The irony is that I got a lot of initial views because "Erotic Couplings" has a lot of readers, but because there are also a lot of submissions in that category, my story got pushed of the "New Stories" list rather quickly, which drastically decreased my story's views and feedback. Conversely, if I post in a lesser-read category (like "Letters & Transcripts", for example), the stories tend to stay on the "New Stories" list for a much longer period of time; however, the foot-track there is much less

So, my question is, is there any way to increase/extend the exposure for our newly posted stories in popular categories? Because once stories are pushed out of the "New Stories", which can happen only after a day or two, the hits on them go down rapidly.

I'm guessing there's not a way, but thought I'd ask.

Thank you!
Interesting question. I am working on my first story and read this thread with interest. As a result I think Ricky Nelson provided the best answer in his song: Garden Party. The Line in particular, "you can't please everyone... so you got to please yourself." The reason I think that concept is valuable in this context is that if you write with the goal of drawing in readers then it will be an effort to write what is in THEIR heart. However, the most dramatic and significant writing will ultimately be what is in YOUR heart. Your joy in writing or your lust in writing or. whatever energy that drives you to write, will be at its zenith when you write with internal passion behind it. Or at least that is what dawned on me.

X has about 200 million daily active users while Bluesky is in single digit millions at best. There’s really no comparison between the two, and everyone who thinks there’s going to be a massive shift towards the latter is huffing industrial grade copium.

I'll look you up. I set up a new account and am willing to try new things.

7 Worse yet, you might post something related to your day job on your Lit account! What would your readers think? ;)
"Back in the day" I had multiple twitter accounts, each with a different focus and hence posts, follows & the like. Realizing how easy it is to screw up posting something to the wrong account, I installed different browsers for different accounts - opera for deep dive cyber, brave for sci-fi, etc.

If you use their app, it’s very easy to hose it all up, I found

Note that some sites have ‘real name’ requirements in their terms of service, and occasional waves of bans would come through lest Pussy Glorious met up with Sir Cumzalott and civilization melted away…. Realistic names backed with different emails seemed to not be bothered nearly as much, from what I perceived

Hardly an expert, I would suggest if it's something that interests you...
Write in different categories. The 2 most read categories are IT and LW. Posting stories in either will bring twice as many readers as any other category. LW, It's a blessing and a curse. Lots of views and votes. Also heightened comments depending on whether it's something that sits well with the noisy ones who reside within.
Aside from that. Post as frequently as you can. More stories...

Good luck

Thank you for your feedback.

I've posted in IT and LW many times. LW is near and dear to my heart and, yes, that category is like a mixed bag.

But my question was more about extending the "shelf life" of each story after it posts, if that makes sense.

Thanks again!

Just wait. Bluesky will start burying posts with links the same as X and Threads. It's a growth strategy, but not a profit strategy. As soon as they hit the subscriber base they're looking for, or the curve flattens, your posts with links will be deranked, because directing people away from a site that depends on keeping you there doom-scrolling is suicide.

And all you filthy porn-hustlers will be the first to get that axe. About the time it falls on everyone else is when they'll bury you somewhere just shy of the mantle.

Some of Y'all are Gen X. You should recognize the Columbia Record Club when you see it. LOL

You can use social media, Facebook, ...

I wouldn't use Facebook if what you're looking for is eyeballs to promote your writing. I recently discovered that FB requires a valid, logged-in FB account to view other FB pages. If you're not "on" Facebook, tough titties, the page gets grayed-out when you scroll down, your browser freezes, and you have to close the browser window and start over... to get the same result.

This is happening for everybody, even commercial accounts. If you built your business - a restaurant, for instance - and put all your marketing - like your menu - on your FB page, you are SOL to get your message out to people who aren't on FB. You gotta have a real web page now.

"But isn't everybody on Facebook?"

No, we're not.
