For the past few days I've been been reading about Tongkat-Ali which is an herb from Indonesia that seems to be pretty effective at raising testosterone levels.

I was wondering if anyone has used Tongkat, either male or female and what your experience / dosage was.

Thanks

I've never heard of it before, but then again neither of us is so old to not work right down there anymore. :p

However, you made me curious s i did a search and found THIS Now in the Tongkat ali purchase rules it says:

The active ingredients are present in tongkat ali root in miniscule amounts. Used in the traditional manner (in Malaysia and Indonesia), for a typical single standard dose, one needs a full 50 gram of chipped root, boiled for about 30 minutes. That means: more than 10 kg of raw root per month, or even double that much for body builders. But what is sold in health food stores and as tongkat ali health supplement often only provides less than a half gram of tongkat ali root powder per capsule. Of such a product, one would have to swallow more than 100 capsules to get a single effective dose.

Because tongkat ali root is mostly cellulose, purchase rule 1 is: if you buy capsules, only buy tongkat ali extract, not just tongkat ali.

I beleive that answers most of your question, there is alot more on that site than what I have here, i would suggest giving it a good going over and fidning a place to buy some if your needing it for some reason or soemthing. ;)

Why do you think your testosterone level is too low? In other words, what are your symptoms/problems?

Have scientific studies documented the effects of this herb? If so, I'd start with the dosage and the specific product that produced results in the study.

High testosterone may make you a very hairy man. as well as increasing your risk of prostate problems when you're older.

why are u looking to increase testosterone?

First thanks for the replies and information.

I've actually had a full hormone workup done and my testosterone levels on the very low end of normal but other hormones indicate the cause is not testicular failure. Traditional treatment is several injections per week which I'd prefer to avoid.

I'm not having any symptoms that affect my daily life, (libido is very high) but it is something I'd like to regulate. I am experiencing some fertility and hair loss (head not body) issues that could be linked to low testosterone.

From what I understand prostate concerns can be decreased by taking saw palmetto which inhibits testosterone interaction with the prostate.

Additional recent research has shown the testosterone patch to be effective in increasing female sexual desire in women who lack sex drive but are otherwise normal.

Also recent medical studies have shown that people with higher testosterone (guys in particularler) are significantly healthier than people with lower testosterone, in fact their increased risk is primarily increased stupid behavior driven from the higher testosterone :).

The research I've done shows Tonkat can increase testosterone production by 250% if taking in a heavy enough dose, an above poster is correct that you do need to take several KG if you were to consume it normally however you can avoid that by taking a highly concentrated extract pill or liquid.

I'm not proactively seeking medical advice so much as wondering if people had first hand experience with it as this is a treatment course I can take.

I have read testimonials thoroughout the net I was mostly interested to see if anyone had first hand experience with taking it.
