Island Paradisa.

“Henry Snakes and I have a truce going mate. They do their thing and stay out of me way and we are both happy.”

Having no great liking for snakes I walk over and sit by Snork.

“Young Lady I do believe you where about to tell a rousing sea tale of where sea meets land,………… The tragic tale of Sequin Island Light………..I believe it was.”

'Henry, I have to agree with C.G., I know it is sweet of you to care for it but Snakes and Snorks have a natural incompatibilty.', I respond eyeing the reptile cautiosly from a safe distance.
'Yes it is important that you that you check it isn't a mother although I doubt snakes have much od a maternal instinct.

Braking a lobster claw open and sucking on the juice as it dribbles down my chin, 'mmmmmmmmm these bugs are good CG, you did a good job with the clam bake.'

'Let me finish eating and then I'll tell my tale', I look at Henry, 'No offence Henry but I'm not sitting near you whilst you have that snake', I frown.

Taking my watch Jacket from the boat bag I drape it over Snork’s Shoulders.

“Come join me on this side of the fire if you care to Snork”

I watch as Faith is festinated by Henry’s friend.

Thanks Snork I learned as a wee lad from my great Uncles in the Canadian Maritimes.

looking over the fire at CG and snork

"I must admit to being surprised...you both seem to have such strong ties to the land and yet this snake which is such an important part of it seems to repulse you"

Getting up, I walk around the fire...kneeling down in front of henry...

"Henry, do you think it would be okay if i held her?"

*smiles at Faith

Taking the snake which has lightly wrapped itself around my neck, I place it in Faith's hands.

Looking at the snake relax i say " she certainly likes you Faith".

I've never seen her move so quick to people before.

She senses you aren't afraid or a threat.

But maybe it would be best if i returned to her home , giving me a chance to see if she has any babies.

'The snake does not repulse me Faith', I explain, 'but I respect it. It is not always possible to tell if an animal feels threatened, animals generally strike in self defense. Most animals are frightened by fire, I am aware that she may feel endangered by the flames of our camp fire and handling it might cause it to panick and bite. Most tropical snakes are venomous, therefore I respect its beauty and its space and I am happy at regard it from a distance'

Faith Luv, dearest Snork, Henry Mate, you’ll excuse me please but I feel the need for a walk about.

C G rises leaving the contented little group discussing the pros and cons of Henry’s slithery friend. There is a dark could that has descended and it is time to be moving the wander lust tugging at C G‘s soul. He knows Henry will make sure that the gals get home safe. Swimming out to the Skiff I slip her anchor and hoist the forward jig, the ebb tides carries me silently beyond the beach bond fire, a black shadow ghosting across the water. I wave unseen to my friends good and true companions all. In a whisper soft as the breeze, a tears in my eyes.;

“A bientot mes amies, bonne chance”

I kick the rudder over heading for the South China Sea and hoist the main sheet.

“Home is the sailor, Home at sea and in his lover’s embrace.

feeling the snake wrap around my arm

"Snork and Henry, the reason i don't fear the snake at all and welcome her with open arms is simple... look around ... across the bay... this is an extented dream of the inn...nothing here can hurt me because this is a part of the magic of the pearl..."

Watching Cg sail away my eyes fill with tears....

amend that to almost nothing...

"if you two will excuse me...i need to go to the lighthouse...to make sure the flame is burning bright..."

Taking the snake back from Faith.

I watch as CG and Faith both leave and standing up with the snake wrapped around my neck.

"Snork I'll be back in a little while"

Walking down the path i soon arrive at the spot where i found the snake and pushing aside the undergrowth i find a little nest of eggs.

Taking her from around my neck and placing her back down on the eggs i sit back and watch as she slithers away from them.

I will be back to get them later i thought so i walked back to the campfire. Sitting down i enjoy the warmth.

Having enjoyed the warmth from the fire i stand and walk back down the small trail.

Finding the mother not far from her eggs, I pick her and the eggs up and slowly walk back along the beach towards my hut.

Upon reaching the hut I make a nice bed for the eggs and settle the mother down.

(OOC) Part of the Pearl still lives on here.

Sitting in the light of the camp fire, I watch as Henry wanders someway up the beach into the darkness. He stops a moment and kneels, apparently collecting something from the sand.

Pulling a short stick of burning wood from the fire to use as a torch I stand and make my way towards him, following as he carries his collected treasures back towards the small group of huts.

Standing in the doorway I watch as he carefully prepares a box with some sand, placing the eggs into it and then the snake that is drapped around his neck like a garland.

He pauses to watch the snake turn the eggs carefully before coiling herself around them.

Smiling at him, I whisper gently. 'Henry that was so sweet of you, I didn't realise the snake was an old pet, you must be very happy to see her again'.

Pushing the stick into the sandy ground outside the hut to extinguish it, I enter the hut walking over to him and wrapping my arms around his neck from behind, peering over his shoulder into the nest he has made. 'I still don't like them', I whispered gently in his ear, 'but if you say she is harmless I'll trust you'.

'You know, I still don't have anywhere to stay tonight', I continue coyly, turning him to face me and looking into his bright sparlking eyes.

Looking at Ro i spoke " You can have the bed here in this hut"

Giving her a kiss on the cheek i walked toward the bar and getting a beer took it out the front of the hut and lit up a smoke.

Taking a seat on one of the chairs i look off toward the ocean, listening to the waves lapping at the rocks.

Having taken a stroll and deciding to sleep in one of the other huts i woke and smelt the sea air drifting in over the land. Lighting a smoke and walking back towards the main hut, I wonder how the baby snakes are fairing.

Hopefully they have faired a lot better than me as i lightly massage my neck.

Waking to the sound of light foot fall in the Hut, my eyes open slowly, adjusting to the light of the morning sun shining in upon my eider down, I stir slowly, the snug billowy feel of the bed covering feels soft against my skin.

I blink a couple of times, stirring the sleep from them as I watch the figure quietly move to the box containing the baby snakes and their mother.

I can hardly believe that I actually allowed myself to sleep in the same room as these creatures and yet Henry's comforting words and trust that they would bring no harm to me had somehow given me reassurance.

"Hey there!", I smile as he lifts one of the snakes to examine it carefully, "I missed you last night, where did you go?"

I rise, sitting up in Henry's bed and look at him, holding the warm covers to my body, not out of modesty but out of comfort, hugging the feather filled quilt to my naked body.

Having crept rather than walked into the hut i didn't want to disturb Ro who looked to be sleeping peacefully.

I was examining the snakes when i heard her voice. I put the snake that i was holding back in the basket and put the mother back on them.

"I had a little walk around the island before crashing in one of the other huts" I replied to Ro's question of my whereabouts.

Fresh coffee is brewing if you would like some.

The wonderful smell of fresh coffee permeates the hut and I smile at Henry as he replaces the snakes and turns to face Me

"hmmmmmm, coffee sounds wonderful", I say as I rise from the warm comfortable bed standing naked before him, stretching my arms back and arching my back as I stretch the nights stiffness from my body and muscles. Smilling at him I walk across the room wrapping my arms loosely around his neck in an embrace an kiss him lightly on the lips.

Thank you for letting me stay last night, I didn't mean to deprive you of your bed

The early morning rays filter through the bamboo blinds that shade the windows casting golden and black stripes across the floor yet lighting the room sufficiently to be comfortable.

So what do we do for breakfast ? I ask him softly, still hanging from his neck and smiling as I gaze into to his bright gentle eyes. Should I go and gather some fruits from the Jungle?

I returned the kiss before putting Snork down and drawing the curtains to let more sunshine in.

There is plenty of fruit in the kitchen and i can cook up some bacon and eggs if that would be suitable.

The richly aromatic smell of coffee was drawing me in.

"hmmmm Bacon and Eggs, that sounds wonderful", Taking the cup of coffee Henry hands to me I walk outside the hut to view the beautiful morning as it unfurls and the jungle begins to awaken.

"It's a beautiful day, perhaps you would like to join in tha lagoon after breakfast", I call back to him remembering the magical pool with it waterfll shower.

I walk back into the hut, "Is there anything I can do to help", I offer as Henry begins to prepare breakfast.

As i prepare breakfast i hear Snork's words and say " A trip to the peaceful waters may be in a order sometime after breakfast".

The day is looking quite a good one with not much of a breeze and the sun shining.

Pouring myself a cup of coffee i leave it on a table and keep a check on breakfast.

Soon it is served and i hope my cooking is good enough for Snork to enjoy.

The smell of the smoke cured bacon fills the room as it sizzles noisely in the pan making my mouth water. "Wow that smells so good Henry, there something about the smell of frying bacon that is just so delicious" I look around the modest hut, all the necessary items for living with out the clutter of needless items, just the way a house should be.

Picking some utensils from a shelf I set the table and then walk over to the stove where Henry is cooking. Wrapping my arms around his waist and standing on the tips of my toes so I can peer over his broad shoulders to see the breakfast frying under his watchful eyes.

"Should I go out and find some oranges to juice, I'm not sure if there are any trees nearby or should we just have coffee?, Juice would be good "

Turning to face Snork i serve up breakfast.

Moving to the fridge i open it and taking the juice pour two glasses and place them on the table.

Getting a refill of coffee for us each.

We eat breakfast and talk about the previous day. "I do hope CG and Faith come back to join us here", I remark, smiling across at Henry as he tucks into another forkful of bacon and egg.

I sip my orange Juice finishing of my breakfast and then rise and clear the table.

Handing Henry a cup of coffee I tend to the dishes and stack them in the draining rack.

"Come On then", I call to him, "Shake a leg mate", I grin teasingly at him as I grab my beach bag and towel, "Let's go and check out that lagoon again, I could really do with a nice refreshing skinny dip". I wink at him and stand in the doorway waiting for Henry to get his things together.

The sun is climbing steadily now and the Jungle has awakened fully, the sounds of the birds and animals movig throughthe trees and the soft beating of the sea as it breaks on the shore drifts up to the Huts.

"You might want to check on your snakes before we leave though, will they be alright here on their own. Do they need to be in the sun and need feeding?, I ask him

I walk down the beach. Faith gone back to the place she must be. This beautiful Island Henry’s creation has a hold on me..

I wander aimlessly my mind straying, yet my feet leading me ever onwards. Over logs and under vines I walk following the stream ...Ghostly memories.

Faith talking and laughing as we find our way...the sounds of life call to us.... birds and frogs... and a distant rumbling...the clicking of insects... the rustling of leaves...

The colors are deep and rich, small flower and large with wonderful aromas.... stopping i become engaged in examining a tiny green tree frog.......“Oh Faith Look.”

Looking up, again I see the giant leaves…………. My hands pushes them back to reveal the grotto... the sight is beyond description... a water fall...and a pool...

The falls are breathtaking, the shimmering pool like satin, moving, undulating, yes I can believe it water the mother of life.

I sit on a rock outcropping alone with my thoughts.

How long has it been sence that pleasent day? Seems like a lifetime ago.

Having spent a few months in solitude i come back out of the hut and look around.

The baby snakes are all grown up as the mother cared for them quite well as i quietly walk back into the main hut.

Checking around all the huts and walking down to the water i return to the main hut some hours later and grabbing a beer walk and sit down on the seat to look out towards the sea.
