I took a risk and it backfired.
I don't know why I thought going for what makes me happy was better than settling for what was safe. I was told I was stupid to do that, and lo and behold, the people who warned me against this choice were right.

The folks had a fair point. I was offered a permanent position in a different but similar work environment where I'm now, but I turned it down. I shouldn't have.
Since the beginning of February I've been stuck doing work that I didn't originally sign up for. It was supposed to be temporary, just February. But here I am.
At least I just got a raise and a one time bonus for not sucking completely, so that's something. And because covid has closed down the bars and borders, I can't blow all that money on beer and traveling, so maybe I'll be able to save a little more these coming months now.
