It’s the strangest thing. It wasn’t a victimless crime, of course, and the survivors are safe now. And it happened to them, not us. But we are all just reeling...stunned.

I’m not a naive person and I have found my gut instincts about people to be right way more often than not. In this case, I would never have suspected this person to be capable of evil. Never. It’s heartbreaking.

I really don't get paid enough to be answering the phone on my vacation. I switched my work phone off yesterday to avoid this situation, but they called my private number.

From Monday on there will be someone covering for me in the hot mess of a project that I inherited when I started at the new job in July. Until then I have to hope that they won't call me again. Fingers crossed!
