If you've been denied bail you got to Remand. Remand is where you go while awaiting trial. Innocents, refugees and the mentally ill rub shoulders with the murderers, armed robbers, drug king pins etc.. After your sentence you go to General Population.
They will put you in PC, but if the guards don't like you they may just take their sweet time about it.

ETA if you're sentenced two years less a day you go to 'jail', more, then prison.
