I'm Amy. 27 years old. Virgin. I left my North Carolina hometown/college town 6 years ago to make a name for myself as an artist in Philadelphia. Most of the people I went to college with aren't really a part of my life anymore. A few Philly friends are who I'm closest to now.
I had just gotten home from a mural dedication ceremony, when I get ping on my cell.
Miles. A message from Miles, an old college friend. Miles and Amy weren't super close but they were in the same circle. My best friend was Miles' roommate, so we all did hang out a lot. Miles and Serena, his girlfriend, had been together the entire time I knew him.
I wonder why he's messaging me?
"Hi Amy. How are you? Been keeping up with your life in Philly. Congrats on the latest mural."
"Hi Miles! Long time no talk. Haven't seen you since graduation, what, 6 years ago? How've you been?"
"Good. Been thinking about you a lot."
Say what now? My eyes widen...staring at the screen.
"Really? Um ... I'm surprised. We weren't very close."
"Yeah, uh, haha, I really liked you in college, but I was with Serena so I couldn't say anything."
My heart drops. I reread his message, in shock.
"Miles, no one has ever liked me. Or if they have, no one has ever told me. Stop joking."
"I'm dead serious, Amy. I did like you ... I do ... like you. You're the most genuine person I know, even after all this time. It drew me to you, it still is."
"Oh... I ... thank you for telling me. No one's ever ... I didn't think anyone ever would."
Silence ... I start rambling to fill it up.
"I doubt I'd be good in a relationship, no one's ever taken that chance on me, so I dunno."
"We could change that," Miles states, definitively.

A synopsis about the history between the 2 before we start.
Everyone meet at age 17, in a small eastern North Carolina college.
Miles and Serena meet in high school, so they enter college as a couple.
Amy enters into the friend group when she meets Elliot, (Miles' roommate and identifies as gay), in Design 101 class.
Amy and Elliot become quick friends, therefore the four of them hang out a lot.
Miles is drawn to Amy immediately because of her genuine spirit, he knows she's super shy so he does a lot of heavy lifting when they first meet, trying to make her feel comfortable enough to open up. It works and the 4 of them survive college together, though nothing romantic happens at all. Miles and Serena are together, but their relationship is always a bit rocky.
After 4 years of art school, Amy moves to Philadelphia for the bustling art scene. She's still a virgin after college. She's super focused on her career but the yearning for a relationship is always very present in her mind. She's been living on her own for 6 years when Miles gets back in touch. Her, Miles and Serena haven't talked since she moved. Her and Elliot have kept in frequent touch but Miles made Elliot swear not to tell Amy that him and Serena had broken up. so Amy thinks this is just friends reconnecting but Miles wants more.
