What error message is it giving you when you try to upload your pictures? Is the actual file size too large or are the dimensions of the photo too large? Both are easy enough to fix and it sounds like you have quite a few people who are eagerly awaiting your pictures.

I haven't been around long, but everyone I have met since I joined has either been very nice or simply avoided my thread if it wasn't what they were into. I hope your experience is far more pleasant this time around.
